The one currently at the top of my wish list is the Svord Von Tempsky Bowie, sorry I don't have a picture.

Im not sure how traditional these are?...but i like them anyway....The W49 is highly under rated in my opinion, good steel, blade shape and weight.......FES

Amen on the Western 49- the curved belly makes for beautiful cutting. I've got the Solingen you picture above it, too- it was my freshman orientation knife.
That Al-mar is a beauty.

I really had no particular model in mind. Honestly I'm not highly versed in Bowie history(obviously). I also liked the Svord Bowie, but wasn't sure how the quality was.
Svord is generally a pretty good knife fot the money.
A question- are you looking for a Samuel Black type or Rezin Bowie type?
The Samuel Black type is the classic "Bowie knife" with a slight S guard and brass blade catcher on the back, while the Rezin Bowie knife is more of a large butcher knife with a small guard and a long clip.
Samuel Black types are more common, but Rezin Bowie types can be found.
EDIT- For somewhere in between, the Cold Steel Laredo or Natchez Bowies are both good knives. Both can be had in SK-5 for under $200.

And is the one on the top is a Richards I Cut my Way?
Just like my Scout sheath knife that I purchased 45 years ago and still have

"I Cut (picture of an axe) My Way" is Joseph Rodgers of Sheffield, I'm pretty sure.

For my money it would have to be the Bear and Son 14" bowies. Can't go wrong for less than 200.

I guess it really depends more on the specific knife, as I like both designs.

I have one of those, it is a beast. It's probably my favorite out of the bowies I own. It's certainly the biggest. It makes my Battle Mistresses look wimpy by comparison. And you can't get much more traditional.

Samuel Black- old Western Bowie, old Ontario Bagwell Bowies, (display only) United Gil Hibben "Expendables" Bowie, (back to users) Case, Bear & Son, Von Tempsky, Bark River
Rezin Bowie- easiest would be to modify a 14 inch Old Hickory butcher knife.
Modern- SOG Bowies (Tech, Super) Ka-Bar Big Brother or USMC, Ontario SP50, Ontario SP10, Cold Steel Natchez, Laredo or Trail Master
Good luck in your search!

I love that COFFIN HANDLE AL MAR.. THose are actually hard to find.. If it states SEKI JAPAN on the other side you may have a rare one!, Also if the TANG is shown on both sides of the handle - all i can say is WOW! AL MAR vintage bowies had different variations.. One of the RAREST ones feel like TanKS, then some of the others that have the LOW LAYING BELLY handle (non coffin) are lighter!!

DAX 007...It do,s say SEKI-JAPAN on tother side..But the tang is not visible on both sides....It is my favourite big knife and scary sharp...........FES

Hey Neeman.
I had a closer look at another pic of these(duuh because it took me longer to locate than if I went in the kitchen and got the knife) and it says -William Rodgers I Cut My Way -with maybe an axe in the middle.
Want to know the best bit? I just looked and discovered I have 2 of them. So which came first the William or the Joe?
cheers.

My William Rogers was purchased in 1964 when I would have passed my Knife and Axe badge in Boy Scouts
