Quartermaster Knives ( Anybody like them?)

I've heard a lot of negative stuff about Quartermaster...
I'm hoping it isn't so..
I'll admit that I'm somewhat anxiously awaiting the release of the QTR-10 "General Lee"
I have the Kershaw E.T. by G&G Hawk, and I seriously WANT/Need this one too..

The dude needs to come clean. He can still salvage his credibility within the knife community. Maybe he don't need to because his knives are selling. Not to me though.
It's not hard to find an actual knife factory in the USA.They would certainly be on public record with a county tax office. The address listed as the secret Texas Quartermaster knife factory is residential and not a knife factory.;)
A real knife factory would surely be on public record and not difficult to prove.

I'm pretty big on first impressions. I was eying them for awhile and finally picked up the B.A. Baracus karambit. The internal stop pin and the liner lock don't mate with the blade so it has terrible lock rock. I got it from a secondhand dealer but it was unused. I don't know how it could have made it out of the factory like that. I'm sure if I reached out they would fix it but the whole experience soured me on doing business with them again.

As I said earlier, my company is listed as a manufacturing company but only lists a residential address or a PO Box as well. It's not uncommon, it's not unusual, and it doesn't mean anything shady is going on.

My reaction to every QM design I've seen has been about the same response I'd give to a dinner plate full of feces. In case anyone is left in suspense by remark, the specific response is recoiling in disgust. Their stuff misses with me in a dramatic way. It may very well be quality material and construction, but... No, thank you. The designs aren't for me.

I would say it's highly unusual for a knife factory to be zoned residental and hidden from public record.

the one thing that truly has steered me clear of QM knives isn't the questionable factory, the possibility of the "made in the USA" being a lie, or the ugly designs.... its the owner's complete disregard for family values. if what is been said is true, I have no respect for a man (using that term loosely) that very well might have let his ego get in the way of a father/son relationship.

there are way too many companies out there producing top shelf knives for the same price that don't bring all the drama to the discussion for me to spend one dollar of my hard earned money on a QM knife.

just my .02

even though the designs are extremely similar people speding $1k+ on blounts aren't exactly quartermasters target market
Exactley.... think about that for a second. They took a design that wasn't theirs and made it into a semi affordable knife for the masses while making it for next to nothing in china hahaha

Theyre good knives, I own Mr.Roper, its a great knife even though I hate it, why do I hate it you may ask? I don't like framelocks lol, im weird, other than that its awesome! But because I dislike framelocks so much, im selling it to get something like a liner lock or something.

I don't have a problem with Chinese-made products any more. Honda sells Chinese-made Fits in Canada, Volvo (who I work for) is owned by a Chinese company and is all the better for it (drastically), all my iPhones have been Chinese made and are super high quality. Reate and Kizer are both Chinese and everything I've read has said they're ridiculously well built and finished. China has a long-standing tradition of fine high-quality watches (Sea-Gull?) and horology.

I'm not anti-China.

I'm also not Anti-QTRMSTR. I watched the BHQ promo video from Shot '15. Their new products seem for the most part ( besides the dumb name) to be less mall-ninja-ey. The Spicoli and the Doc Brown look awesome.

But if you have Chinese parts, don't friggin' pretend they're not. That's reprehensible.

I do not own any QM knives and I hear and listen to what is said and I have some reservations but their designs are intriguing to me. They think outside of the box. Which canbe a good thing but a little more innovation to go with the design would be nice. That being said starting with the roper and most recently the mr. Spicoli I am intrigued. Someone wrote earlier about the Doc Brown. When I saw that knife I knew immediately that that would be my first QM. I love the looks of that knife and grew immediately excited. No opinion yet but they seem to be moving in the right direction.

I also noticed that they seem to be converting there older knife designs to frame locks as opposed to the liner locks.

If you can't tell by the rambling post I'm Rey close to pulling the trigger. I'll check back in after I do.

The designs are sure out there, the thing I'm surprised they are getting away with, is the model names. These are all copyrighted characters, curious to see if they catch heat for that eventually.

Exactly 👆👆👆
If I had that kind of money I might buy a Blount. But I don't and probably never will.

So its ok to steal a knife design to make a less expensive COPY and sell to the masses? Lol.....
