Alright here's my out of the box review.

Finish: looks great, even all the way across the knife

Fit: looks all great and even to me. One spot to point out is the grind is slightly uneven on the top slope of the blade.

Blade: I personally really like the grind but that's subjective. It came in decently sharp, enough to shave lined paper but it's not show stoppingly sharp. One minor issue mentioned above.

Handle: couldn't be better. Very ergonomic, jimping is great, and you have a ton of security with your thumb on the massive opener.

Pocket clip: it's a piece of metal. It works as intended, would have liked a deep carry clip tho.

Opening: here's where the knife lost me. The opener is way to aggressive on your finger. The cutout is not deep enough to reliably flick open one handed without extra manipulation. The detent is very strong and with the aggressive jimping it cuts up your thumb. Now opening lefty is easier due to the lock bar being angled slightly more but I'm not a lefty. It flies open on bearings when you get it to go.

Lock up: looks up solid, releases easy enough for my taste even if it's a bit stiff new

Overview: I really really like this knife but due to the nature of how I intend to use this knife, primarily one handed when I'm working, I think I'm going to send it back and look at a new flipper. This was all compared to my zt0562cf, the knife could kick that out of my pocket if it had a flipper or opened more reliably one hand. All in all I support the product it's just not what I'm looking for curently. I would buy again from quartermaster (GASP).

Well, they steal most of their designs, why stop now.

The handle is a tilt, the blade is a direct 100% copy of the GTC airborne.

That grind is terrible:barf:

There is no way that quartermaster will ever reach the level of kershaw. At least Kershaw is honest about where their knives are sourced from.

Haters gotta hate. The blade design is under agreement with the designer. I don't know of any of their knives that are copies of anything. Some of their knives are truly innovative (McFly blade changer balisong) and many are in collaboration with knife makers such as Warren Thomas. If you don't like the knife just say that. Don't accuse them of stealing designs without facts to back it up.

I wanted to keep the hate out of this thread purely for this reason. People spout off without actually doing their research.... but but but I read a thread on blade forum that says they are shit... unless you've handled the knife you can't comment on the quality. With that said I've got a zt 0550 that's all sorts of jacked up compared to my 0562. Every company can make a lemon

Or how about you do a search and find out the MANY shady things surrounding quartermaster.

Theft of designs.

Parts or knives coming in from China but claim to be made in the US.

Their Texas facility that supposedly makes their knives is a broom closet.

Not even including the family callout that the current owner recieved from his own father for being a liar.

Read more dude and accuse people of "hating" less.

This thread will go no where, and you supporting quartermaster is lame as hell.

I suggest you start a thread exclaiming your passion for quartermaster in a more appropriate forum like whine and cheese.

If the knife feels good in my hand and cuts well I could really care less about who makes it. I'm not snobby like you guys, I find a knife I like I buy it. That's the reason for my varied collection of zt, benchmade, spyderco and Emerson

And the knife in the OP is freaking HIDEOUS.

If it's snobby to have disdain for a company who lies where their knives are made, steals designs and is owned by a sleeze ball. Yea I'm snobby.

You'll find bladeforums typically doesn't like thieves and liars. Good luck with your thread.

I do have one question though;

If they lie about WHERE they are made how can you trust they don't lie about materials used in said knife?

Yet striders are easily in the top 10 favorite knife companies on bf and no one seems to care about their controversies any more...

Anyway back to the knife talk

No one cares about striders controversy huh?

There's a few threads 40 pages long in another area of the forum FULL of what members think of mick burger.

Sure some guys don't care but many do.

And for what it's worth strider knives is at least verified to be made where they claim it is made. So NOT apples to apples.

The blade is listed as .19" thick at BladeHQ and one or two other places, but it's listed as .125" at QM's own site. It doesn't look like it's only 1/8" thick in pics, but also doesn't look like a full 3/16". Could you measure it when it comes in and let me know?

Yea of course. I should have it later today and I'll post an update

I would like to point out that this knife was originally made without permission from Gus of GTC Knives. They showed it off in their sketchy SHOT Show brown-bag segment with BladeHQ and I screenshotted it because I noticed it looked identical to the Airborne blade. I posted it on Instagram, and then Jim Skelton reposted it so it got a ton of attention that way. Only then did they seek permission from Gus. So their intentions are not as pure as they seem.

That being said, I think this knife is hideously ugly and doesn't even resemble a functional blade shape/grind.
