Well, I just heard that the Daniels family deal to purchase Queen Cutlery was finally completed, and they have shut down briefly to make the transition. A historical moment I would say!
Does anyone know more details?

Should be quite an improvement, I look forward to the knives that fresh (domestic) life will bring.

But to answer the question, no I know nothing else. I knew it was happening, but the finalization is news to me.

YES! the door nail production will end...can't wait to buy a knife from the new Queen. :)

This is a most hopeful sign as this company has produced very enviable knives in the past. Lately, it's been patchier...
Here's to a new future!

Charlie,
thank you for the info. Yet, for us ignorants on these paths of American knifemaking factories, I'd like you (or anyone else) to articulate this topic, and tell us more about what you expect from this transition, and why. :)

Long live the Queen---hope this will be a transaction that will breathe new life into the Queen/Schatt Morgan knives. Even though I have had very good luck with all the Queen knives I have purchased in the last few years, and all the Queen built contract knives. Good luck to the new owners. Let's all try and support them. Like we need a reason to buy more knives. LOL

Indeed...I'd love to hear more background on this and some 'subtle' info on the recent owners. I purchased a Queen about a year ago, thoroughly unimpressed with the fit and finish, sent it back and got an almost identical knife...as in, same fit and finish issue; I'd written them off, if this changes things I'd love to support another US manufacturer, especially one that has had a preference for either higher end carbon steel (love the D2!) or stainless.

Excellent news! I have stayed away from Queen since a bad experience but the Daniels family has my trust. Ready to try out the new stuff and very much looking forward to this different steel option from Titusville

I'm with Jake :D

I got a Bird's Eye Maple Dogleg a few weeks ago, it's a terrific knife. The Queen City Copperhead I got in July was a nightmare.

I have a Queen whittler in zebra burl and its a great knife...are they not making good knives now?

It's been kind of hit-or-miss with Queen for years. Some of their knives have been very good, others not worth the gas it would take to burn them. As long as the new owners fire the idiot(s) that have been doing the sharpening, I'll look forward to trying Queens again.

This is just conjecture mind you, but I would expect an improvement in quality, with a changeover. Ken Daniels knows quality, and knows what sells - in other words, what we the consumers like to consume! He's going to have to re-organize, and it may take a while, because "stagnation" which I think has been happening, takes some effort, and trial and error, to clean up.
Ken may be the guy for the job - we will see something happen - I hope it is for the good.
Queen was run from a distant corporate office, not ideal!! It drove out their best knife designer, who now owns Great Eastern! We all have had the pleasure of watching Great Eastern improve with its growing pains and successes.
As a consequence, not only will Queen have to be good, but it will have to measure up to Great Eastern's ummmm . . . .greatness!!!:D

I just hope the new Queen keeps there D2.
I've been carrying their Mountain Man lockback as a front pocket carry for weeks and hardly notice it's there.
All and all I hope this ownership change is for the better and they don't end up folding over this bad economy.

This is not good for me. I love Queen knives even with all their problems. When their F&F improves it will be very hard to keep moolah in my pockets.

Me too. Their D2 is tops, and if it's anything like GEC, they'll have my favorite patterns in about 5 different irresistable covers to tempt me.

I hope they don't change the spring strength. I find Queens to be just about right in that regard. Haven't found a GEC yet which had a pull I like. They have all been too strong.
