Queen purchase finalized!

I have a Queen mini trapper and a stockman both in amber bone. Gorgeous scales on both. The mini trapper has a nice snap to it while the stockman has a smoother pull. They were both dull as could be when I got them but man that D2 keeps a nice edge after reprofiling. I hope Queen only improves with this because I'd love to buy some more of their knives.

This is excellent news! I would love to see a ultra high, Sebenza like quality, line of knives emulating the production quality of the Case/TB series.

This coupled with the wonderful traditional patterns of Queen and S&M would really bring back collectors.

My best wishes to the Daniels family in this new endeavor.:)

Steven

They could improve on the Heritage line too, it could be a remarkable range of knives but I've read a lot of accounts of poorly finished examples. The one I have is very good (Ebony Clip) Would like a Rosewood Spear.

Well... I don´t know further news.

But Queen is not available in Germany. I didn´t buy a knife because of the "hit & miss" in their F&F. Some pics here scared me. Gaps, bladeplay and so on... If their F&F would be better, I would order one in the US. I have no experience with D2, but I´d like to have an experience with this steel. So I hope, they won´t change it to stainless in general.

So I´m waiting, if it will happen. And when it happens; what the productions will be in F&F.

I love all of my Queen knives, and I guess I've been lucky, but I've never received a lemon from Queen.
This development spells good news, in my opinion. Great will get even better!

Hello everyone this is Ryan Daniels , my family and I really appreciate the support and well wishes everyone has gave us. I will be trying to be on here in the future to give updates and info of new things we are going to try. I will be completely redoing the queen website here in the next few months trying to make it much more interactive and informative.

The first big the thing we would like to announce is that Jenny Moore has been named President of Queen Cutlery Co.

CONGRATULATIONS Ryan. We are all looking forward to where Queen will go and I am personally very excited it will stay an American company and not sold overseas as many others have lately.

Ryan if you read this I must say "bring back REAL winterbottom bone". :)

Charlie, thank you for keeping us folk here informed of these most important things that are happening in the Traditional knife world...I personally wouldnt have known.... so thank you for that.
My opinion on Queen knives is that they are great, I personally have no problems with Queen, I do agree with Robs statement about the Winterbottom Bone...this is something that Queen is most famous for.
From a customer side of things-which should be very important to Queens new owners - would be to looking back at at the more common complaints that arose when discussing Queen Knives...
The first is irregular fit and finish - if the new owners could keep an eye on Quality control.

Another very regular complaint is the dullness and irregularity of the edge on Brand new Queen knives.
If the new owners were to make points like this to the new or returning customers on the up-dated Website...Im sure that this would invite a few more people to be tempted to buy again to test the new waters?
I too am very glad that Queen knives are to stay American owned, as stated earlier you do have a bit of stiff competition from GEC, but Queen are very high up in the Traditional knife world, and with new passion I am willing to bet that Queen wont have a problem maintaining and even improving their name.
Good Luck, and this is good news.

Good article that from The Titusville Herald. It's astounding that the workforce is a mere 24 though!

As the overseas observer, I'd like to share some thoughts on this...
First, thanks again to Charlie who is one of the best resources of this subforum :)
Then, I was surprised to read mr. Daniels' post on this thread...since I assume he's aware of the fact that this is one of the most critical (in both senses) yet passionate community of knife traditionalists.
I never owned a Queen knife. Maybe I will get one someday. But I know for a fact that this market will improve if another company starts to "speed up" and raise the standard. It seems that most of you guys are willing that Queen can do that. I wish them to.

If they opened up a Philly shop, I'd be standing at the front door with an apron and some tools come Monday morning. ;)

Mr. Daniels as one of Queen's loyal fans I would just like to say please work on quality control. I love my Queen knives. The biggest problem for me has been wiggle or wobble when the blades are in the open position. That needs to addressed.
On a more positive note please bring back the Dan Burke Barlows.

My message to Queen is to do more in 1095. D2 is all well and good but frankly I like the usability of 1095. I don't care if my knife can be driven through a car door and still slice a tomato. Give me 1095 at 57 RC, tight construction, no wobble, and a nice thin grind and I am a happy man.

FWIW, I own 4 Queen knives, 2 of which are branded Moore Maker.

I agree with you bonusmarple! I hope they don't make a 1095 Queen Canoe or worse yet a Baby Sunfish; I may just have to get one!
