Question about a Medford to Marines and Vets

Based on some of these responses I wanted to come back in and say thank you for taking the time to ask the question. It says a lot about you that you're taking the time to make sure that your decisions are respectful. Kudos to you.

hello hkwinger,
as a Vietnam vet, please carry it and enjoy. when you use it, remember the cost of the freedom we all enjoy. I think most vets would agree with me. bets regards to all
mike

It's a nice knife, but most military folks would not want its extra weight on a daily basis. The emblems on the knife shows respect for the military. As a old vet, I appreciate that fact. Of course you should carry what you want.

I served in the Corps 1970-1972 and have no problem at all with you carrying and using the Medford Marauder.

The only problem I have is with people that never served and wear hats with "USMC Vietnam Veteran" embroidered on them.

Count your blessings and thank you for your service.
I know a guy... wears a hat that is similar...his states "Korean War Veteran."
He gets some back-pats and a few free meals from various restaurants on occasion.
Now...the thing is...he served during the Korean War, but never left the states.
But, he truly believes that he was "over there."
Who am I to tell him any different?

Retired Army so can't speak on the Marine Corps.
That being said, I think with your obvious respect for the military and those who served it would be seen for what it is, a tribute or honorarium to those who have served and are currently serving.
Carry and use it with pride.

I respect all vets but seriously? All i can do is laugh, who even cares. It's a knife. the chances you'll be using it to cut open a package while an ex vet is standing there watching you to get offended is slim to none. People are too sensitive, almost for the sake of attention getting these days. Use the paper weight and enjoy :)

Even if someone did have a problem with a non-vet carrying this because the badge, they would be pleased this individual is torturing them self by carrying a 50lbs weight around.

I seen plenty of frost crap with USA and armed forces stuff on the blades. How about S&W knives. They created the Hillary hole. Such insult can never be forgiven.

I just had to chime in again. Seriously, you are asking for opinions on peoples blessing to use a knife just because it has some kind of military emblem on it? In that case, call hollywood and put them on trial about their war/army/seal movies, go to every toy store that sells army looking toys and basically alert the world. Army themed things are all around us, lets just stop being silly and pretending you need the approval of knife collectors to use or carry a pocket knife. This whole thread is bordering embarrassing.

... for proper EDC, it must be carried with your moonbeam and ink stick. And don't forget your go-fasters and smell-good to impress the ladies (if that's what you're into.)

As former 1st squad ldr, machine gun section, weapons platoon, Echo co, 2nd battalion 1st marines, I authorize you to own, use, and maintain MY Marine Corps knife for a period no longer than forever.

Kidding bro. That knife looks badass. No problems here.

As long as nobody is claiming they were in the Marines when they weren't I don't care.
Agree.

The Globe&Anchor can be found on all sorts of paraphanelia. Doesn't bother me.

But claiming to be a Marine when they're not. It bothers me.

As others said as long as you arent pretending you wont have a problem, its a way of showing support; heck it might be an ice breaker which would result in a really cool conversation.
