Question about a new platen

Been there, done that! Spent as much on the glass platens as I did on one carbide platen. Carbide is so much better, more durable and cleaner surface; not all glass platens are equal!

And it's kinda fun to see the sludge peel off the RD platen and still have a mirror surface under it!

I'm down for a 24" curved carbide platen.
If the production going to work out i will and offer those in 2 dimensions:

29” radius so simulating a 58” diameter wheel
14” radius so simulating a 28” diameter wheel.

I already make radius platens out of hardox for a couple of years.
The plan with this is, that the curved carbide can be mounted on those.
So for old customers they can upgrade there radius platen.

I'll start saving... :D

So here is a update on the curved radius platens.
They worked out with the manufacturing and looking great.

They are made in 150mm height / 6”.
This to save on costs since they are slready expensive.

For any info just sent me a dm👍IMG_5343.jpegIMG_5342.jpegIMG_5346.jpegIMG_5344.jpeg

What's the radius of That one....bonus if you have any pics of blades ground on them?
Thanks
I have 2 pieces now in 14” and 29” radius.
Am taking pre orders now and will also take orders for 36” radius since a lot of guys have a radius platen like that.

Dont have any knife made with the platen. That will take some time before i have one made with it. Dont make that many knives. But i am sure it will give great results

Out of curiosity, if you cut the curve by EDM, why didn't you leave the back flat? Seems like twice the work.

Well to be honest never thought of that.
But since it needs a backer it seemed best way like this so people can upgrade their current radius platen.

Is flat back an option when you order? I’d be interested in the cost since I don’t currently own a radius platen. I sent you an email earlier but if this ends up being a legitimate option I’d pay for and test a prototype if the cost makes sense. You’ve been extremely helpful to me so if I can return the favor let me know.

Same.... Id think flat would be a more useful/cost effective shape for the rear
