question about clay heat treating

Jerry, I'm not sure if ITC would work in this capacity. Course I don't know, never heard of it being used like this.

I have no idea about buffing, I'm terrified of buffers. I etch with warm white vinegar, lemon juice is also used by some people, there's a lot of etchants.

I haven't gotten into the hamon pursuit either, but I've read that a buff will tend to wash out your hamon, almost like smearing it off the surface of the steel. Then you have to re-sand to bring it back. I think most will tell you to sand religiously (i.e. while you're sanding, pray you get a great hamon) up to high grits (1200 +) and maybe finish with OO steel wool or abrasive polishing compound between your etches.

from expirience I learned never to use an acrylic and marble polish and sealer, it leaves horrible gunk on the blade and you need to waste 100grit paper just to get it off I had a small question for anyone that knows the answer, if you heat-color a blade with a hamon, will the differences with the steels make different colored oxide layers or the same, I never understood how to heat color though , definitely something to look into
