question about down gear

Thinsulate was tried in sleeping bags years ago and flunked -- primarily due to not surviving compression -- by the body or in a sack.

I have yet to find any insulation material I'd feel comfortable leaving compressed for very long, at least for the type used in sleeping bags. I ruined a Wiggy's bag (synthetic) by doing just that several years ago even though they claimed it wouldn't hurt it....and that was after leaving it compressed for just a few months.
Then again, they are in the business of selling sleeping bags. Turns out "a few months" is .

An honest manufacturer warns against longterm compression.

I visited one outdoor forum that bans Wiggy's threads because they always start a flame war over there. Despite the bad advice on compression storage, a lot of people get good results with their bags.
