question about gec "repairs"

"GEC does not warrant its products against normal wear or misuse. GEC does not warrant natural handle materials after the use of the knife."
I guess I missed something here.

It might hurt!
Last time a question like that was asked, the answer was,
"This is a FACTORY, da^^^^it!!"
:D:D

I Didnt know WC Fields ran the GEC customer service dept.
Sorry.i don't mean to be rude to good people of GEC.but that wuote is rattling round in my head now and it reminds of some actor although i can't visulise who exactly at the moment.crusty,irrascible,exasperated.

I'm not sure how to take some of your responses in many threads Bob. I don't know if you're trying to be helpful or antagonize. But from personal experience GEC does warrant natural handle materials after the use of the knife. Perhaps it's up to their discretion.
I guess I'm missing something here.

No, you didn't miss anything, Bob. Seems perfectly reasonable to me. If you drop your knife and the bone or antler breaks, or the wood gets dented, GEC doesn't fix that under warranty.

Though I am guessing that means they do warrant artificial handle materials like acrylic?

Edit:
*my post was in response to, and in agreement with, rma100 (Bob) and not specifically BigBiscuit (also Bob)

Dr. McCoy from Star Trek. "I'm a doctor, blast it, not a mechanic!"

Eureka! Its scotty off star trek.
'D@^^ it Jim,I'm a doctor not a cutlery enthusiast'

On ya.i just thought of it too.Brilliant.not scotty but bones.

I've read their warranty several times. I know what it says, but I'm relating personal experiences.

will need to find a custom modder than, did browse around, some one on here did something very nice to a 15 clip. i do wonder about the price

I don't see any issues here, Bobs. I think you are both correct.

The Limited Warranty states what GEC absolutely will do.

But the warranty does not limit them from doing more than that if, in their minds, it is the right thing to do.

Anything up to the limit of the warranty is guaranteed to be done. But, something which is beyond the limited warranty is GEC's decision as to what is right and proper.

^ Right Frank. In my experience, they will go above and beyond. I had a red soup TC that had some pins that protruded further than I liked. I called up Chris and sent her some pictures. Even though the knife was 100% functional, and now 3 years old, they agreed to take the knife. It came back to me in 4 weeks with re-domed pins and they buffed the whole knife as well. They did excellent work that they didn't need to do. But they did and I was sure to send a personal Thank You to them.

Well, first of all, I only have one GEC, the Farmer Lock. Love it immensely. I carry it every day now. One thing I noticed was there is just a slight hint of blade play. I thought I read someplace that the FL does suffer from that on some of them. I can live with it for sure, and it doesn't bother me as much as it might on say, one of my Spydercos.
The only reason I bring this up is because I prefer a really tight pivot (not so tight it can't open) on my trads.
How difficult would it be for GEC to tighten up this knife?
Again, I really love it, but which it was just a bit tighter.

Thanks. I thought of that, and am considering it. I just thought someone here might have some experience with this and might chime in.
Like I said, it's no big deal, I'm not in a rush.

are you handy with knife mods? supposedly you can just wrap the bolster in leather, get a nylon hammer and tighten it yourself tho, if you have an anvil like base to strike it on

Oh. I get what your saying, but......I'm not that handy. I mean, I can break the thing for sure, but I doubt breaking it would fix it. haha

might contact Esnyx instead

There's a couple of folks who post in Traditional and have "knifemaker/service provider" memberships who could likely do the work. Certainly Esnyx is one of them.
