question about gec "repairs"

There's a couple of folks who post in Traditional and have "knifemaker/service provider" memberships who could likely do the work. Certainly Esnyx is one of them.

much obliged, i think ill be looking as soon as i can find a second clip and pen 15 with an end cap. as a kid i always tried to remove the spey blade from cheap pakistani trappers and boy it is not as easy as just splitting the knife in two and pulling a blade and a spring out

Little late, but I did in fact ask Christine at GEC about this exact thing a few weeks ago. Answer was NO. They do not do any custom type deals, and would not be willing to rip apart a knife to remove one of the blades.
But, as others have said, there are some guys here that do amazing work. Mark, Glenn, Esnyx, and others here can help you out. Just search "knife mods" or something similar. can't hurt to send a PM to them to ask. Hope that helps

Thanks for replying. That helps tremendously. I will be on the hunt for a second gec 15 with a clip blade before approaching any of the customizers. I have been scouting the modded page for examples of their works, and certainly looks good!

I'm in the same boat relatively. The only thing I don't care for, is if a blade is removed from the 2 blade setup, the tang stamp on the blade with still have the number that says it was once a 2 blade version. Not that it may bother you, but I don't care for that little detail, so I am always looking for single blade ones myself. Good luck. Either way, you can't go wrong really.

Yea, i dont know about other people, but I tend to prefer one bladed versions of a bunch of the knives GEC makes. Currently i think its a 77 in the wood, now its got two blades, big clip and the pen. But id like it much more with just the big clip blade. In fact I gotta watch bladeforums for sale, and what not for an extra pattern now because I found myself liking more than the 48. It had been only the 48 single blade at first than the 15 pattern now, im looking for single blade versions of the 77 which seems to resemble it the most but in a larger format. The 85 as well. 2dead provided some measurements. I wonder if the 15 is the boys knife, does that make the 77 the mans knife?

The 77 and 15 are very close in size. I think the 77 may be called the "Young Man's" knife.

There are many larger knives that would more likely claim the title of the "Man's Knife"...
