Question about pictures used in Sales Posts - ALL PICS SHALL BE ORIGINAL.

It's not possible for a reasonable sized set of selling rules to cover every selling situation. Ours don't address "catch-and-release" situations. The rules assume you own a knife and wish to sell it.

My opinion is that to verify to everyone that you have the actual item in your possession, you need to take your own photos. It's not clearly stated in the rules, but that is the intent.

Could not agree more

Buyers here have not only used my sale thread pictures but they've used them in their eBay listings before they have even received my knife! 🙄☹️

I'd be really angry too, I hope the reseller comes in this post to save face. And apologize.

I know I try to take good looking photos of My knives. I don't want people using them for sale!

I think only once someone here nabbed a pic of mine and posted it on BCUSA.
I occasionally browse there, and saw it, and called them out..... It wasn't a sales thread, but still.

I have a tangent question.....
What about pictures sent to a Maker?
User pics of (their) knives being used?

I'll occasionally get those and post them.
I never know what to do, so I label as not My pics.
Cause I don't want to "out" someone/the new owner for privacy reasons. Some people don't want the whole world to know what they own.

Hopefully that's acceptable

Personally, I generally think it's good form to at least let folks know that the pics used aren't yours. That is, of course, with an honest description of the item in question. I don't see this as a copyright issue and, even if it were, what exactly are your damages?

It is though, no matter what "you see".

Just ask them? There is a grey area of course: when you don't copy their pictures to put them on your website or here, but instead use a link to their picture (e.g., within IMG tags), post only the link and mention their name, I always thought that should be fine.

This topic is good timing for me
I'm going to be making a new posting in my sub for just this sort of thing..... Guess I got a lot of catching up to to do ....ha. :)

I had a scammer approach me on fb offering me a Koa Sebenza 21, so I played along and said I was interested. Was pretty funny to get my pic of my knife, which was still in my possession.😂

I'm not a fan of having my pics used, the seller should take their own.
