Question for K2 owners

I like my K2. No lockstick or rust. The flat frame design makes it easy to carry despite its size.

Never owned or handled a SB but at 3.4" the blade is a little short for me and you can buy a K2 for much less than a SB on the 2ndary mkt.

While I'm very pleased to have an SB and enjoy its size, ergos, etc., I do like 4"+ blades, though they are obviously more common on fb knives. I think the majority of those partial to folders gravitate to +_3" or so. Given the K2 predates the SB by a couple of years, I wonder if the SB was intended to reach a market segment that otherwise liked the K2 but for its size. Just speculating. I should review the actual dates of production and the number made of both models. Thanks for your comments. Enjoyed your box cutter thread very much!

Yes, please. I would like to be an owner of a K2.
You can pick up a custom for only a few hundred bucks more than the discontinued production Is going for. Look Mr. Mehr up on Instagram and he will sell you one. He is currently in production on making his Mini K2 in various steels types. I liked his Mini K2 so much that I bought a stainless Damascus and an a S90V from him. He is a great guy and answered all my questions. Hopefully Sal can get together with him one day and bring us a production Mini K2.AEC5BA35-824B-4C6F-AAAA-51E4531101B2.jpegE92EC0C0-93DC-4308-BC5F-5E7D2C76F765.jpeg

Can you post pic of the whole knife? And is there any way other than IM to contact Mehr? I don't do IM or any site that has anything to do w/Meta.

I am happy to message him on IM to see if I can get an email contact for you. Just let me know.

Please do. Not sure if I'd buy anything directly from him but won't know unless I can see what's available and for what price. Thanks!

.

PMd you with results of question to him last night on Instagram.

[edit] As a woodworker I understand the need for chisel grinds on chisels. They could be useful on a knife if one knows their purpose and advantages. Certainly much easier to sharpen, and great for precise shaving cuts. Depends on how the knife is to be used. I'm sure you're well aware of the differences/advantages.

Interesting. I'm curious if the two custom knives above by mehr have anything to do with Spydiehole. I am unable to read through Sal's post in what exactly it means.

I am not a big fan of social media either. I have found you can can choose any anonymous user name on instagram just like this site. This allows you to participate in it what you want on your terms. Many makers and dealers choose to give information on releases through instagram. This is why I chose to participate.

Unlike some other makers, he doesn’t take any payment until your knife is ready to ship. I think he does do business through a couple on online retails as well. I hope this helps.

Actually we were working fine with Farid and had future plans, but we had a falling or over our round hole trademark and future projects died.
Yes, that’s a pity Sal. I understand that in business, it just doesn’t always work out. I had imagined one one of these with a stone washed blade in XHP with the ground fuller. Just the way you do them up nice in Taichung.
