Question for Nevada LEOs

I would appreciate some guidance from any Nevada LEOs who have the time to help me out. A few weeks ago I posted a thread offering my Shivworks Disciple for trade and ended up agreeing to sell it to a member named Sputnic, real name Justin Yates. Long story short (long story long is here), I sent him the knife by USPS and he didn't send me the money.

I have the name and address of the person I sent my Disciple to, in Sparks, NV. I have what I believe to be Justin's real address in Reno (of the four Justin Yates addresses I hunted down, there was only one that had a prior address in Sparks). I have about twenty emails back and forth where he agrees to the deal ($235, shipped, for the knife). I'm more than happy to try to find anything else that might make it easier for you to bust him and, hopefully, get my knife or my money. (He claims to have a CCW--would knowing that help law enforcement find him?) I'll do whatever I can to make less work for law enforcement if it makes it more likely that they'll look into it.

What I'd like to know is, who should I talk to (in Nevada, that is--the reading I've done indicates that I should also run it by the Secret Service and the Postal Inspector's office, since I sent it USPS)? What information do you need that I can give?

Thanks in advance,

ALEX

Edited to add: Please feel free to PM me if you'd prefer.

Alec, this is postal fraud.

Contact the Postal Inspector's office in Sparks about this.

Postal Fraud is interstate fraud, pretty heavy stuff. They take it very seriously and generally speaking, once the postal guys are on the scent, they do not quit until they have their man.

It WILL take some time perhaps, so you need to be prepared for this eventuality.

Good luck.

It is also wire fraud since there was most likely some exchanges via email and the computer. File a complaint with your local department as well as the postal inspectors and they will interact with the appropriate Nevada authority. They will take it seriously because it could uncover a larger fraud scheme.
