Question For Sellers

......... doing business is different to being a hobbyist that is divesting themselves of excess/unwanted/spare/disliked gear. The two things are absolutely not the same. The "For Sale" forums here really are geared toward the hobbyist and a a group, "Dealers" who have not signed up here as such tend to get called out about it. Likewise a person selling their own "personal" item (as opposed to stock) is not in the same position to take the hit if the buyer is dodgy. You are correct that we are all new here at some point, I certainly got knocked back as a buyer on my first few attempts. Due to the nature of this site, if people individuals see you having meaningful interactions outside of the buy/sell space (this is not ebay/Amazon or even one of those other social media marketplace) they tend to be more open to dealing with you, "vouches" from others nominated from other sites have little value here in my experience. Sellers can place whatever restrictions they wish on their for sale posts and the people here will decide if they still wish to deal with them. If *I* see a message about no posting in the thread *I* take that as it is to be dealt with via Conversation (DMs as the fancy people call them on other sites) or Profile Posts. should the seller not respond, then that is what it is an as a buyer you can decide if you wish to continue.
Thank you...this is correct. The forum offers a place for discussions and education on knives. I have seen it a thousand times, but didn't even consider it. If a question needs to be asked about a blade, we should go there first. This, I think, is THE justification for not cluttering a person's post. As far as selling to new people, I've considered your response, and you are correct, especially considering professional sellers also have a place on the forum...these are the sellers I should hold to a higher standard. I totally get it. I'M DONE. THIS IS THE ANSWER I WAS LOOKING FOR! Perfect...My apologies to all the non-professional sellers (where I hang out on the forum). You did not sigh up for the risk of new buyers, as do the professional sellers. Thank you for not telling to mind my own business (simple response from simple mind). I have a stake in this site's success, just like the rest of the members. My concern was legitimate, and I certainly appreciate these responses, especially this one.

Blessings Friend,
Patrick

The 1st is a rule, and intended to eliminate chit chat that would clutter up the thread. While best (and prefered) to ask questions by PM), very few are going to flip out over a question pertainent to the knife sale (such as what blade steel. Offers best done privately)or leaving your email because you have questions
For those without PM privages, you can use the persons profile page to leave messages
On the second topic. Many of us do leave feedback. If I have missed anyone it was by mistake. But I rarely do for Ebay or Amazon nor do I do surveys.
Members have their own rules for who they will and will not sell to. We are not running a business and can't afford to absorb losses from any posible scammers(or just PIAs), no matter how low the chance. Some sellers are very strict on who they will sell to others not. You are just going to have to find less strict sellers until you build up some rep.
I will sell to new members, but if the $ amount is high they may have to pay by USPS money order-giving me control .
You, as well as others, have explained this to me. I get it now and have adjusted my expectations. Thanks for responding...I appreciate it!

Blessings,
Patrick

Most sellers including myself, are trying to keep the thread neat and clean. I like to do everything via pm but non paying members can’t do that, so I don’t mind them posting contact info for an email in my thread so I can email for communication. As far as wanting to deal with members with a certain amount of feedback or not dealing with new members, not speaking for everyone. I think that has to do with wanting to avoid being scammed or dealing with other potential headaches with members, with no track record. This is especially true with high dollar items. There are people that post, complaining about members that put USA sales only, it’s not meant to offend anyone but at the end of the day, the seller wants to sell or trade their items with the least amount of drama as possible.

Yes Sir, I agree. In my previous comments, I conceded. Some members have shown me the light. I suppose the best answer is that you are not professional sellers, so I should not hold you to the same standards. I think I was thinking of this as a regular business when it is not. These are individuals, and do not have the same luxuries as retail sellers. I do not think seller are disrespecting me, and support the two practices I had previously had concerns about. I am not unreasonable, and see where I was wrong.

Thanks Again My friend

Patrick :)
