Question for the Kershaw Mafia

Blaming the customer for his knife rusting within 11 days and then telling him it's his job to fix it, well, let's all hope that the manufacturer has a better response than that.

And if rusting within days is the very nature of beadblast finish, maybe those products should come with a warning. Or maybe they shouldn't be made at all.

I'm not blaming the customer (or OP for that matter) at all. Why don't you go look at the above link that was posted. You have a choice with Kershaw knives, you are not "forced" to buy a BB-finished knife. Who are you to decide what a manufacturer does in making its knives with a certain finish?

I have a ton of Torx bits, I just couldn't tell if it was or not. It almost looked like a stripped Allen, honestly. I guess when the new piece arrives I will look into it closer.

Thanks!

Kershaw uses metric allen in some of its value series' imports. Other than that, they tend to stick with torx 99% of the time, the only anomaly being with a knife like the Blackout which has phillips for the pocket clip screws.

You should be good to go (and glad you got your rust issue solved easily)

The safety uses a torx #6 to tighten and loosen the safety on the Leek. Sometimes the safety gets a little loose and a slight turn will fix that no problem. I been known to tighten it down out of the way completely too, where I didn't want the safety used.

Funny thing. Mine does not take a #6. :grumpy: I tried a #6 and then a #5 and neither would fit. The only screw that was a #6 was the pivot. Gonna message the original owner and see what's up. Next option is to take the knife with me to HD in the morning and check it there.

Maybe your set is bad. The Leek pivot is definitely a T8 and the safety is definitely a T6. I just checked with my Wihas.

both my kershaw groove and zing have had a never ending battle with rust, but i live pretty close to salt water

That changes things slightly :p

The safety will still need a T6 driver.

Strangely enough, my set of Husky drivers was all screwed up. The T6 was clearly too big and the T5 was waaaay too small, so I picked up one today. I am eyeballing the Kershaw knife tool I keep seeing.

I don't like the little tool and Wiha makes some of the best drivers.

If you can't find a decent driver anywhere in Austin then let me know and
I'll send you out T6 and T8 Wiha Power Driver.

No charge of course. :)

Thanks, but I got a nifty little precision set today. I thought the Kershaw tool was a good idea. Especially for the price I will not name at the place I will not say to avoid deal spotting.
