So, my question to you my friends and fellow Chris Reeve addicts.. is simply this.. Is it wrong to purchase a Chris Reeve Knife.. send it to the Spa.. and then sell it as "New" without disclosing that it has had a spa treatment... I think so.. but would like to know what the rest of you think..

I think not.

And if you have to ask . . . .

Not cool. Honesty is the best policy. I've even disclosed problems with a knife that were corrected under warranty.

Yes, it would be VERY wrong to do it. Only a crook woud do something as low as that(IMO) :thumbdn:

I just had a PM discussion this morning about this issue. I told him about how its hard to tell at times if one has been refurbished. If I seen an older model with a newer style lanyard pin(like one at a place right now) I would wonder if it has been sent in. They could've put that on themselves, but who knows for sure.

I sent a 1997 in a few years ago that looked pretty rough. I had a refurb and silver hardwear added, and it came back looking like it had never been out of the safe. The only way I could tell is the current blasted finish is not as smooth as on the older models. Not sure what year they changed, but mine 2005 and older has a smoother finish than a newer model I have, and the one that I had refurbished.

I wouldn't even mind if they stamped a small R inside a slab just to indicate it has been refurbished :p

I again agree!! 100% Full disclosure and total honesty is always the best policy! This is true in all things.. and especially in "This Thing of Ours"

I agree with you 100% Ken.. and you know what that is a great idea!! As a collector of Smith & Wesson Revolvers I should have thought of that myself!! I think this is something that Chris and Anne would embrace especially considering the prices that supposedly older models bring when In "New" condition!! Great idea my friend!!

Clarity and honesty should be a must!... Should be.
But people are what they are and we can change them! We can only give a good example and I know a lot of BF friend that are clear and honest.

Some one else (very few) that are not.
BTW a new knife it is not one that has refurbished and if is an old model it even can loose value

My 5cents ( of euro of course LOL )

It should not be sold as new(NIB is NIB nothing else) and seller should disclose it has been refurbished(to the spa). After this disclosure he can go on to say it is just like he got it back from the spa with no scratches and so on and looks like new. On some items like you buy being to the spa may devalue the item from it's used condition. On other items that are not particularly rare it may increase the value over the used condition. Once it's a used item it always is a used item even if its a good looking one.
