Hey guys I have a question for those of you that have the zt0308, I just received a 308 that I bought here on the classifieds and upon inspecting the knife I noticed that the lock bar face on the blade itself has some serious un uniform gauges on it. Before I bash the seller I want to make sure this isn’t a factory thing zt did. Also how much does your lock bar insert lock into the lock bar face on the blade? Mine is really darn close to 50% which leads me to believe that this knife was messed with, either filed down or ground down some.

Mine has some marks on the blade and it is at about 40%, close to 50%. Locks up solid. Pics would help us diagnose, can you post?

Here's what mine looks like.

Mine has vertical gauges that aren’t uniform. Yours looks factory it has them nice and uniform and aren’t deep, yours looks like machining marks. Mine are literally gauges running along the whole face in a vertical pattern

I’m the seller that Juan is debating on bashing. Here is the picture he sent me when he informed me there was an issue with the front of the flipper tab.

I informed him that the lock face came that way from ZT and that lockup can vary from knife to knife and no certain percentage is good or bad as long as it locks up well. The lockup is strong and solid on that 0308. With that being said, I did offer to refund his money if he wanted to ship the knife back.

I've never seen a ZT lock face look like that. Were you the first owner of the knife? Are those really gouges? It looks like someone used a pencil on it to lay down some graphite, of course that wouldn't gouge it. I can't see in the picture that well.

This is the first I’ve heard about offering to send this back. With that said as a seller at least when I sell things I’m fully transparent, there is no doubt in my mind that was not a factory thing, these are not milling marks but gouges. As seen in the pictures the gouges are so deep that there dark

I bought it new in box on the exchange. I can’t speak to the depth of the marks because the lockup was never an issue in the few months I had the knife, so I never paid them any mind. Here is the thread I bought it through that had it listed as new in box, unused.

Juan, I sent you an email 45 min ago at 11:10pm eastern time.

This knife was sold as new never cut only carried a few times. I wouldn’t expect to find this on a like new knife. So you can see why I was so surprised when I saw this.

I tried the eraser and nothing. Best way I can describe it is like groves. When I run my nail over it I can feel each one and it just looks ugly. If they were all the same I could deal with it but it’s bugging the hell outta me.

All I want is the knife I thought I was getting. At this point I’d have to ship the knife back and hope that I get a refund. I’m not willing to do that. I’d rather send the knife back to zt and pay 30.00 for a new blade. Or hope that I can polish it off with flitz tomorrow.

If you use flitz to attempt to polish the lock face then the knife is yours. I offered to refund your money because you weren’t happy but I’m not taking back a knife that you then attempted to “fix” on your own.

Aurora you need to try to get your story straight man, in our email conversation you clearly stated that you received this knife straight from ZT like this.... now your saying here that you purchased second hand in the classifieds? Hence why I wouldn’t send the knife back to you without a refund first, how trust worthy do you sound???

Here is my quote from the email, where I told you it came from ZT that way.
“Mxg deep carry clip is installed on the knife and the factory clip is in the box. The flipper is how it came from ZT so I didn’t mention it as it was from the manufacture so I assumed that was intentional.”
It was new in box when I purchased it. So it would have come from ZT that way. At no point did I say I received the knife directly from ZT. You also accused me of not sending the MXG clip that was mentioned in the listing and it was installed on the knife just like the pictures and listing stated. I have been on this forum for years and have perfect feedback. You’ve been here less than 2 weeks with zero feedback. Not to mention you are telling me you’re going to attempt to use flitz on the lock face of the blade which could potentially ruin the solid lockup.

So if you state to someone that “the flipper is how it came from zt” and then you later say that you bought it from the classifieds, how would you even know how it came from zt... if you purchased on here from another seller. I think I have made it pretty clear that I will not send the knife back on your terms, it’s to risky. I would rather pay the shipping I’m gonna pay to send it back to you but instead send it to zt and have a new blade put on it at some time.

to the rest of you thank you for the input and the pictures.
