Every since i got my ESEE 5 i havent looked at a single other knife company. Ive put many of my knives in the drawer for ESEE products but the thought occured to me, what about other companies. I mean im not trying to knock on ESEE products because they are amazing.

Im just wondering if there are other companies out that makes a certain knife better, or maybe more effective for the price? I just think that maybe i was blinded by the ESEE quality and maybe i should or shouldnt look elsewhere also.

Unless I want something more "traditional" (BRKT) I buy ESEE knives. Period.

ESEE makes great knives, that work much harder than their very low costs.

That said, I don't think anyone here would argue looking at other companies knives. Here's a short list of some of my favorites.

KaBar - I don't think I've gotta say much here.

Buck - There's millions of 110's and 119's out there for a reason. 105 (pathfinder) is a personal favorite, and the knife I 'grew up' with.

Benchmade - Folders are a highly contested market, but my BM's never let me down. I've got a Nitrous Stryker and a Griptillian in my regular rotation.

Gerber - I've always been a fan of their multitools, and the ez outs are great beater knives for $25 and there's not much BS to the design. The gator is another design I love. I'll never understand why they stopped making them with thumbstuds.

Most days though, you'll find me carrying a HEST or an RC3

I've yet to find a knife that is better in the same price range.

I've yet to see a better warranty period.

There's no other fixed blade on the market now that offers me as much as my ESEEs do.

The designs are effective and totally dependable. The guarantee is unbeatable and the quality of materials and manufacture are excellent. The company philosophy and the cool community all add to the experience. And it all comes at a price I can afford. No other manufacturer ticks all these boxes for me.

Saying that, I also buy and use Moras for woodwork, SAKs for EDC, Opinels for the times I need a thin slicey blade. I use Bahco Laplander folding saws, and I love my GB axe. But in areas where there's an ESEE product, ESEE wins every time.

to date my knives consist of a few brands with ESEE dominating the pack
ESEE-Alot
Becker -BK1
BRK&T- Bravo1,Gunny,Fox river
NWA-Seirra Scout ,Fillet
Koster-bushcraft,bushmaster,Survivor
and a few folding knives & multi tools
Just so hard to beat the overall value and toughness you get with ESEE Products why go elsewhere

Some people might think another brand fits their need better, just like you think ESEE is the one for you.

What works for me, might not work for another. There are alot of good manufactureres to choose from. No big deal.

for how they're designed, manufactured, price and the company that stands behind 'em, there is no better production knife on the market than esee, imho.
but hell yeah, i own lots of other knives, tho mostly customs and/or vintage.

As we have stated numeorus times, our little forum here is about a philosophy more than the actual product. I carry more of other manufacturer's knives than I do of our own. NEVER stop looking at other company's products. There are some real nice knives out there at reasonable prices. Just to name a few that I consider top notch:

Ka-Bar
SwampRat
Al Mar
Bark River
Benchmade
... and the list goes on

I've got way to many knives, but I keep getting more. I do own 8 or so RAT/ESEE knives, so I must like their stuff.

One interesting thing is that since acquiring an Izula, an RC-3 and RC-4, I've acquired a bunch of other brand knives as well as a bunch of customs in the same or similar size and performance envelope as the Izula, RC-4 and mostly the RC-3.

My trending must have some significance for me...

Its all good...

since I've gotten my izula, 3, 4, and 5, that's all I've carried.....they tend to fit more into huntin, fishin, campin, hikin stuff that I do....I'm pretty much stuck on this brand.....I haven't found a production knife that can be on par with ESEE!!!!!! jmo.........

for fixed blades i like ESEE pretty much exclusively. the handles, blade coating, sheathing warranty, blade shape, etc. everything works for me.

i will have to see what the folders look like, but my current preference for folders are spyderco and CRK.

Simply, there is no other company that can beat the quality, for the price, backed up by the service. There definitely are different products out there that may meet your needs, and we all own more than just ESEE knives, but their company philosophy just resonates well with me and I support companies that support their products.

It's more of a family philosophy than just a consumer philosophy. It sounds weird, I'm just buying a peice of sharpened metal, but if there's a family/company behind that product that supports it's customers it makes it all the more easy to spend your hard earned dollars on that company's products. ADD to that the fact that they're reasonably priced, and high quality items, and you've got the perfect storm of products.

Do not have any imput. I do not own a ESEE product (YET). But I do own a Ka-Bar BK-2 if that is the right name. The one designed by Becker with the approx five inch blade and weighs in at a pound. I do not think you could destroy that knife unless that is your initention.

With that said I have been eyeballing the RAT/ESEE 3 for a very long time. But there is a custom I want first. Not custom but hand made. Brett Schaller knives.

Bang-for-buck, you can't beat ESEE.

You can get less expensive knives.
You can get better knives.

But not at the same time.

I buy what I like & what I think I need. Yes I own my fair share of ESEE knives. That being said I edc an Emerson Commander & also have a Kershaw i carry from time to time. Additionally i have a large Old Timer lockback on my edc pack. And a Cold Steel Khukri on my large pack.

I just love my spyderco's as much as my esee's

best price quality i've ever encountered is Kershaw

That's my edc esee3, kershaw nrg2, spyderco delica4 ffg ;)

I grew up collecting knives.....I stopped at ESEE.

I wont buy anything else until I own every Knife they make, Im starting at the bottom with my always on my izula and gonna work my way up.

I enjoy using something I know has such an iron clad warranty and an amazing company/forum to back it up!!!

Thanks ESEE

See i was just wondering what the rest of the community does. I had a kabar on my kit last deployment but traded up to a esee-5. But i use a gerber multitool only cause its issued. But I edc carry a benchmade griptillion, and my hunting knife is a buck knife. It looking to fit my izula into my hunting knifes but have yet to do it since my buck knife has been there since the beginning. I have other cheaper folders laying around in various places but thats about it.
