Question to all the ESEE owners

They are great knives, but they aren't going to keep me from purchasing other brands. There will always be other knives out there that I want to acquire. ESEE has a lot of nice knives, but they aren't the only company that there is. ;)

spiderco military in LH is the only knife I keep around now that's NOT ESEE or RC...and once the Izula folder (or *cough* hest folder) come out...I'm getting one and the Mili will be put up for sale quickly.

It's all about the warranty, the brand, what a company stands for and how it stands behind it's stuff for me. They deserve all the loyalty my little ole life can give 'em. I know they got my back.

If they made a replacement for my Cold Steel SF Shovel...that would be the last thing I'd need and I'd then be ALL with Jeff and Mike's stuff.

everyone pretty much summed it up so i'm not going to add to the esee ass kissing :D i used to have an rc-5 and sold it recently. i prefer the bk-2's handle shape way better and the blade shape looks better to me. aside from that, the esse-4 and the junglas pretty much made my other knives un-wanted and i'm actually starting to sell off the others.

if i can trim my collection down to just the izula, esee-4, junglas, lite machete, bk-2, spyderco military and victorinox trekker i'll be happy...yeah, i don't collect knives.

I'll admit there are a couple other knives I like, but I keep buying ESEEs.

Same with handguns. I'm trying to diversify from Glocks, but why disappoint myself?

The key with ESEE is that they make amazing knives which are reasonably priced. You can do stuff like Busse which are also amazing but also tend to cost 3-4x as much. It's gonna be tough if not impossible to beat ESEE at their price point. I would say your best bets are Bark River or Scrapyard, which both make awesome knives as well but they will likely still be more expensive than most ESEE products. However I've had both bark river and scrapyard knives and I will say they are both primo.

i don't have one yet, but ESEE seems to be one of the best buys for your dollar.

Becker has some good stuff. i've got a Brute somewhere that i'm trying to find. there new micarta scales are also a nicer option than the default plastic.

Blind Horse Knives seems to offer great products for reasonable prices... but i don't have any yet.
Benchmade for folders.
also Kershaw and Zero Tolerance.
Leatherman for multi tools.
CRKT has some stuff i like at reasonable prices, but i have one folder that's hard to unlock.
Bark River has some very nice stuff. (but again, i don't have any yet)
Livesay has some very nice fixed blades and the prices seem very good for what you get. nice design and ergos, but that's subjective.
and here on the forum, Fiddleback, Koster and JK have some nice stuff.

i wand a knife that looks right, feels right, has a nice sheath and that's reasonably priced for what you get. it's gotta work and not fall apart. a great warranty doesn't hurt. it's gotta be AVAILABLE, many people love Randalls, but the wait is ridiculous. (uhhh... talking about the OTHER Randall here)

ESEE are my favorite working knives, not much can compete with 'em... HOWEVER, they aren't really "pretty". Cool looking? Absolutely. Beauty queens? Not a chance! :p

So, if I want a more traditional or pretty looking blade, I always go to Bark River. Massive amounts of quality and craftsmanship in their knives, and a true convex edge that can't be beat! I don't know of any other company that puts an edge on their knives like BRKT does.

I just got my Fiddleback Recluse, which was built by Bark River, and it's by far the sharpest knife I've ever held. I mean, I've had sharp knives before - I shaved with my ESEE-6 the day I got it, for example - but this thing, man. This thing. It's in a whole different league of sharpness. I'm almost scared to use it.

I'm stopped dead at 3 RAT blades and feel I have all my bases covered, for the money, that ESEE can do better than the rest of the field. The Buck Paklite Skinner, Hibben IV, a bunch of Condor stuff (they sure are sweet) and some traditional blades like sodbusters and a Svord.... Right now I'm kinda filling in holes of bits and pieces of extra kits that can be used as an extra backpacking kit for a buddy/girlfriend, or spare bugout bags for family/friends. I do believe that along with ESEE, Kabar ranks in the top of the field as far as performance and manufacturing quality. I absolutely LOVE that 1095 CroVan steel, and their finish is crazy strong.

I bought all my other brands before I got my RP#-I believe in the oath I took and the secret handshake. ;)

I was always a fan of the US made Gerbers, Kershaws, Bucks, and I have bought Cold Steel and Condor in the past but since I bought the RC-4 a while back I have been a major fan of ESEE knives. Now I just find myself looking for ESEE's. I just got my ESEE-6 in and now I'm planning to buy a Junglas or an Izula ( I know, two completely different animals )

"You can get less expensive knives.
You can get better knives.

But not at the same time."

Thats how I feel.ESEE is the host with the most.I've looked into different companys and really spent alot of time looking at knives, watched knifetests, nutnfancy, everything and ESEE just has it all.
The only thing that has gotten my attention is Busse(some of their designs are questionable) and omg have you seen their prices? They don't even offer sheaths!!!So after buying the knife you still have to have a custom sheath made.If ESEE starts a line of 400 steel knives using the same designs, sheaths, warranty they will be the best hands down imo.Imagine ESEE made out of infi steel...

I think many companys have some great steel to work with but what is it with knife makers and their designs?I'm looking at alot of the newer knives made by other companys and they have good steel then I look at their designs and I'm like "wtf is that?"
Where the hell did you come up with this?I could show you a ton of pics of knives that have me scratching my head as to why they even made it.I guess its for knife collectors.I'm a woodsman and I use my knives.I loved the crocodile dundee movie "Thats not a knife,THATS A KNIFE".That knife is awsome btw I wonder why no knife company has tried to sell that design with some good steel I mean thats a seller. My point is design matters and if it looks goofy I don't care how well it performs I'm not gonna want it.

I pretty much had most of my favorite knives covered before I came across Esee knives in this forum. I kind of wondered about all the great things I read about them ,so I ordered myself a 4. Like most of you , I own a lot more now , and couldn't be happier with the product , the people who stand behind it , the philosophy of use , and the camaraderie I get from being here on the forums.:)

My line-up so far:

Black Izula
2 - DT 3's
2 - black 4's
1 - DT 4
1 - #5
1 - #6
1 - H.E.S.T

... and counting :D

you seriously need to try a junglas. it'll make half, if not more, of your line-up obsolete!

I've been holding back for awhile because I have a BK-9 , but am still seriously considering it. I like having spares of my smaller users though. They will always have their niche.
My wife's Filipino.
Hiwa means in Filipino ( Tagalog ) for "slice"...something the Junglas does well I presume !

I've had scores of knives come and go, and I've pretty much settled on:

ESEE/RC
Bark River
Busse (including SwampRat)

as all I need.

Different price ranges, but they share quality construction, warranties and people. Occasionally I'll try a custom from someone else, but when it comes to the knives I use and trust, I look no further than these companies.

I've only got 1 ESEE, and while I think it is a good knife, it won't cause me t get rid of my 3 scrapyard knives or my bravo 1.
My next knife will be an RC 3 unless I find a ss4 first

^^^^ This

The old Schrade/Uncle knife company had a fantastic loss warranty. I lost an Uncle Henry fillet knife...upon notification, they sent me a new one. Its a shame they are no longer around.

ESEE has a great warranty and has a business philosophy and transparency that is unfortunately uncommon in today's world.

i have both and prefer the junglas hands down. it feels more nimble in the hand.

i grew up in the philippines until i was 13 so i still know tagalog. it comes in handy when i need to say something to friends without americans knowing what i'm saying - like when car shopping i'd tell someone in tagalog, "he's bluffing, he can lower the price some more. let's walk away and you'll see." :D
