Question

I drink plenty....... or more than enough. Bud Light and now Captain Morgan and Coke. GAWD, maybe Scotch and topshelf Whiskey are the cure for slipping back into the trailer park. I gotta go open that bottle.;)

Funny! I'm guilty of that... Just found a bottle of rum, Bacardi select dark, or something... glass shows the year on the bottom... '98, LOL I keep forgetting about it. Grey Goose in the freezer... 02, I think? Both uncracked. I have a drinking problem... Apparently, I don't drink ENOUGH! LOL

Jeese, if you're gonna drink coffee, the least you could do is spike it...LOL

I'm glad this came up again. I was asked today, if I would like a bottle of anything from the liquor store. So I went with them and pestered the ladies for awhile. I was offered whatever I wanted, and was overwhelmed at the choices. Not remembering anything mentioned by you fine gentlemen, other than Pig's Nose and JW. Neither was available, so I went with Knob Creek. Here I sit, debating over it's opening. It's the most expensive booze I've had since my 20s.

Open it already. You don't let 100 proof stuff sit unappreciated. It's been sitting in a barrel somewhere long enough, just waiting for someone to taste it.

OPEN IT!!!! :D

I don't have a drinking problem. I can drink just fine :D

I don't have a problem drinking. It's stopping drinking that's the trouble area.

Where are my Busse Combat whiskey tumblers? :D

I'm only a starter on the Single malts whiskies from Scotland but I like the coastal whiskies best. I like the ones with a little more character (smoke and peat in the nose, tasting and finish).

So far my favs are: Talisker, Highland Park and Laphroaig. The Laphroaig is a jewel for a small pricetag. In the Netherlands it'll cost ya 32 USD.

I tried Ardbeg but I'm not ready for this one yet (it has to much of a iodine taste for me). It is very highly regarded though!

These are also the dark(er) colored whiskies.

The ones from the Speyside region (more fruity, citrus, grass like) don't appeal to me as much.

But hey, that's just my 0.02 eurocents:D

Oh yeah next in line will be the Pig's nose as is recommended by Boss Hog.

Ardbeg is the greatest liquid to ever by put ina bottle... ~$45.00

There speaks a man after my own heart. I have the 10, 17 and 30 year old Ardbeg at home and have tried the 1975, 1977, Lord of the Isles and Serendipity and none have disappointed. Not sure how much they all cost in the US though but all well worth drinking if you want a truly wonderful whisky.

thanks for all the replies. They will come in handy. If you guys know as much about your knives as you do about scotch, I may need to come around more often:thumbup:

Do it! You will not regret it, unless of course you become addicted to it and waste all you knife money of booze. :D

As he often does, ProGunner raises the most important point.

Scotch is expensive.

Knives (good ones!) are expensive.

Life is a balancing act....

(Like Rabu9, I also like Ardbeg and have several different versions -- though not as many as he. The older and more flavourful Ardbegs are both tough to get in the States and rather expensive. Remember -- knives v. great whiskey, great whiskey v. knives.)

Glad to see Crafft is getting his whiskey education and developing his tastes.

I believe tonight is the night, I find that besides great knives and great family & friends, I have much to celebrate. Potentially much more to celebrate soon. No, not INFI, but the means to afford it. I guess that may mean more INFI on the horizon. ;)

Anyhow, I thank you folks, and and I agree with Harry in his appraisel.

"Indestructable Knives and the Finest Booze, the Busse forum is where to Schmooze!"

Sounds like some good news is on the horizon!

Congratulations, MMIAM -- whatever it is you have to celebrate.

Schmoozing away in Ole Virginny...
