Questions about milwalkee deep cut saw and its ability to cut out blanks.

I also have the HF saw with milwaukee blades and it works great on aldos 1084. I also run it full speed because full is not all that fast. Keep in mind that they cut slow and dont expect them to cut through steel like a table saw through wood. Is it slow or just not cutting at all?
it must be just really slow because i think im trying to force it to cut faster.
I think i just pushed too hard and the blade dulled.

Dead slow is the answer. On my HF saw I use the second slowest speed setting. Run the saw slow to cut faster.

Many people expect a metal cutting band saw to cut 1/8" bars of steel like running 3//4" oak through the wood band saw.........not going to happen.
In the beginning, figure 1" per minute for slow cutting steels, and half that for well annealed softer steels. A 6" knife should cut out in about five minutes once you get used to it.
Pushing harder will slow things down.

As an example last week I cut 9 blades out of a large damascus billet. It was probably 4-5 inches x 17 inches and a little less than an 1/8" thick. It was an Alabama Damascus billet. Now I mostly make small EDC type knives which is why I was able to get so many blades out of that piece, but it also took a good many extra cuts to make it happen as everything was laid out pretty close. Total time was maybe 45 mins. My saw (DeWalt) has 5 speed settings with 1 the slowest and 5 the fastest. It was a new Lennox bi metal blade and I had the speed set at about 1.5. Think of it as powered filing. Pull up a stool, turn up the stereo and there ya go.
