Questions about stampings on a Collins Legitimus

I’ve changed my mind. Every axe is fake unless someone can show the line of provenance. A line like the one attached to my 1876 Bicentennial Collection. I find it funny when I hear people wondering why my collection has been tucked away for the last 40+ years. Don’t wonder anymore just read the forum above. Those who understand what I mean get what collecting is truly about. I don't get the POINT of The BS? No pun intended LOL Nothing against you at all Grafton but one would think from all the negative bs by dp that this ax was heading to the Smithsonian and needed vetting. either way its worth between $50-$150 not a big number for an axe having this much scrutiny. I will pay you $100 right this very minute or we could send a piece of a know item and a piece of the so called fake for DNA Metal testing. LOL Miller I’m sure I will run into you at some point. Grafton good luck with the hunt but this pissing match has no point. I suggest everyone buy the book by D.E. Henry I've seen it go from $35-$65. It will help explain a lot things you have no idea about plus it will make my items only go up in value once you do...I might come back with more info from the museum but is it really worth it to have some kid siting on a couch eating cereal playing video games while waiting for his mom to get home from Gamestop with the newest game? NOT AT ALL !!! I can tell you from experience that when dp-ing your still touching someone else's balls and I'm not into that., specially tip to tip. Next Collins subject please. OH AND HERE IS A KICKER....I KNOW WHERE THE STAMPING DIES ARE AND HOPE TO HAVE THEM IN MY HANDS BY SUNDAY:) C&Co. Legitimus OUT. Ponder on that little morsel of news! "D.E. Henry is a KNIFE GOD" who took no $hit from anyone pleases also read his magazine articles.

Ya buddy!
Connecticut Historical Society is in Hartford, not a bad drive. Times they are open and my free time oppose each other at the moment but certainly this is doable at some point. Sooner than later I hope, sadly my wife does not find this nearly as interesting or important as I do :(o_O
I'm 20 min away but I want to ride the Harley if its nice. Maybe I could pay my kid to do the research?

My last post was a bit much but sometimes people just don’t get the (dp) point. Let’s get back to figuring this out. Just noticed a similar axe up on Feebay. It also has the logo stamped over the words. Although words are not in the same order. item#372382350534. Is this for sale by someone in ME that has posted here before? I’ve seen the Old Axe ME license plate in the pic before.

I saw that one for sale too.

C&Co. Legitimus, what is your take on the Collin’s mark with an apostrophe instead of just Collins.? Have you seen that one before and is that shown in the book? Thanks!

I totally get your comments regarding collecting as well. If you find those A&F and or Abercrombie’s Camp dies, we need to talk..:D

I haven’t had a chance to look yet but I will soon. I do remember a few different versions of the Collins lettering but will verify. Hope to have time to go to the museum tomorrow. As for the A&F logo, now a days companies change things up to a newer look when sales slow on an item ir for the change in season not to mention yearly. Advertising as “New” Not sure they were that advanced but look at LL Bean or Cabelas and how they market today. FYI...I read some of my post and realize all the typos and mistakes I’m not that stupid lol it’s me trying to work and type at they same time.

Miller and Grafton how do we go about contacting each other by text? Any ideas. Can we post them take down ASAP once we get each other’s cell #

One of you can post your number on the other’s profile page, send a text, delete profile message.

Maybe spell out one of the numbers in place of a numeral (if you worry that much about info scraping).

I wish I had some history that came to me with the Legitimus CD stamped fireaxe, sadly but gladly it was a scrapyard rescue.
Yes I happen to agree and or assumed it was contracted for and factory stamped as such.

I too am curious to learn more, and am remotivated to hopefully get some library time here.
