I couldnt agree more. If I have something negative to say about any Becker product, I will keep it between me and the powers that be. My negativity on a open forum may cause potential (future) customers to pause before purchasing....

That about somes it up there OLJ.

I guess some guys just get off on it, "oh it's MY house and this what I feel I'm owed" mind set, can't change em no matter how logical or polite we put it. But it is fun...

I don't think that's a bad thing necessarily. A lot of new people (myself included) come to these forums for honest opinions from other people's personal experiences. I wouldn't want people to hold back any negative opinions out of "respect" for the company. The point of this type of forum is to discuss the products and see them from lots of different perspectives. I don't see anyone being blatantly disrespectful or flaming/trolling or what have you, so all of it just adds to the research I do to make the best purchase for me. :D

Don't think they "Host" this forum, or even the official Kabar forum they may have employees that moderate it on their own unpaid time, which is nice, but Kabar as far as I know does not provide money for Sharp and the rest to keep this place running. We can talk about Kabar how we want, we are the customers, Kabar needs our money and our input, and I'm not going to feel muzzled because you call this "their house", this is "our house". And I really don't know what youre talking about in terms of disrespect to Kabar. We are allowed to voice our opinions, experiences with product and services, reviews thoughts, opinions. You know, all those things we take for granted living in a "free" society. Ill say what I want as long as I'm not violating forum rules or hurting anyone's feelings... too badly. I understand what you're saying, and right on for sticking up for the big guy, but I don't believe what you say is necessarily true.

I think you are missing his point. Nobody is saying you can't have an opinion at all and speak your mind about it. As members of this forum we are all in titled to our oun opinion but as we have respect for knives, we should also have some degree of respect for the makers, big or small! As for me... I'm not worried about the people at Ka-Bar, I'm sure they hear from people like you alllll the time. ;)

personally i think the becker sub forum is awesome! nothing but love here! some of the other subforums however.........

anyways i agree that blatantly mouthing off to a company about their products that does their absolute best to stand behind them, is wrong. HOWEVER constructive criticism is always welcome (@least for me), and without it how would we ever get to the products we have today? however as for ka-bar the #1 complaint i've seen so far is almost always about their glass filled nylon sheaths (and how they dull blades) and how ka-bar says its us thats dulling our blades and not the sheaths. i for one know for a fact that their gfn in their hard sheaths dulls the blades as all my ka-bar products use gfn sheaths, not that its a big deal but when that many ppl are saying the same thing, maybe its time they listened? anyways thats just my 2pennies i'll always love ka-bar, i'll always love bk&t, and everyone here on this forum rocks with insightful inputs, custom designs and creations, scales, methods, ect.

If you think no one trolls, or flames Becker knives on this forum....Type "Becker Sheath" into the search box.

Happy to be consistent Sqoon. Good thing you're not responsible for maintaining the forum, I think the mods we already have are doing a great job as is. Forum is bigger, better and more active than ever.

KA-BAR does not host any of those other sites or forums. They host this forum. The fact that it can be worse other places doesn't make a lack of respect and manners towards them any more acceptable.

So, I guess that 1000 posts make you think you're the new spokesman here.

Very interesting.

I think most us us come here for honest discussion, not to be fan boys.

..I feel a lot of love in the room tonight ladies and gentleman can I get an amen? oh wait let me rephrase that not Haze's Kinda love lol:barf:

I don't have a problem with anyone voicing criticism so long as it's done in a respectful way. I that posting constructive criticism would be a great way for Kabar to hear what their customers think (what we like/ don't like, why be buy/ don't buy). Also, as mentioned above, a site that prohibits any negative comments does little to help people trying to decide on a Becker product -- the positive comments only carry weight when negative comments are allowed too.

My understanding is that Kabar pays some kind of monetary fee to have a manufacturers forum on the site.

Either way, if you'd like to complain endlessly, be rude, whine, or just be a jerk, there's plenty of room on the internet for that but this isn't the place, imo.

The way I understand it, there is no charge for a manufacturer's sub forum. The only thing required is official representation by the company.

As far as negativity and disrespect, I'd like to think we are a pretty self regulating bunch. If someone becomes a problem, the mods are on it asap.
There is nothing wrong with airing specific problems, especially new ones that may arise.
However there are ways to present a problem with a little bit of tact. And it is helpful to offer solutions to problems, rather just say something that has been said numerous times.

This forum as I understand it from stalking before I joined, is paid for by Ethan, and being an honest American made knife designer, I like to think he likes hearing constructive feedback on his designs, which help him to improve the next models or next generations of current models.

And like it's been said twice already, positive feedback means nothing without some contrast, and while criticism helps, it should all be constructive criticism, the military mentality of if you don't like, have a plan to potentially improve it, should apply to anything designed to work, which is what these knives do, they work.

And while I understand you've been around longer than most of us, that doesn't give you or anyone else the right to say what is or isn't allowed (unless your a Mod), and no one has the right to tell you what is or isn't allowed (unless their a Mod). Just the way I see it.

I'm sorry, where did you read that Uncle E pays for the forum? I must have missed it. I thought paying members like you and me pay for the forum...
