Ok, its a good discussion so far, and I like it.
Lets keep it civil and not start personal attacks of any sort. We haven't had any, and I would very much like to keep it that way, please.
Thank you, fellas.
I'm sorry, where did you read that Uncle E pays for the forum? I must have missed it. I thought paying members like you and me pay for the forum...
Manufacturing forums are not charged, some sub forums on here are charged, but only the price of a membership upgrade, nothing heavy.
Does Kabar pay for anything here? Not in the "money on the barrel" so to speak, but last year, Kabar donated well over $2000 (current market pricing) to Bladeforums, as an incentive to upgrade your membership to Gold, and very nice slipjoint folder for the Platy's.
So, even though they don't pay to be here, they pay because they are here. And because ya'll are here.
They also like to hear the good with the bad. If you go back and check the forums, we have never stifled a complaint, or criticism on any Kabar or BKT product. Its not what we do here, and its not good to condemn folks that do.
The term fan boy is thrown around alot, and for me, it really doesn't matter. I'm a fan of BKT knives, Kabar knives, ESEE knives, Kershaw knives, and the list goes on and on. Where I draw the line, is that I can listen to someone complain about the sheaths, and completely understand, I can also understand why the sheaths are what they are, as I have an inside track to the powers that be in regards to the decisions.
Knives break, orders get delayed, sheaths will suck, but as long as we are willing to hear it, then there is nothing broken.
To me, a fan boy is someone that cannot see fault in something, regardless of the facts.
Yes, there were about 650 bent BK14's to slip through door at Kabar, and delivered to dealers, and in turn, delivered to folks.
Toooj came on here and said as much.
There were some marks on a knife under the handle, created by a process of manufacturing, once again, Kabar shows up and explains.
Good with the bad, is fine by me, but the manner in which it is presented, is what chaps my ass.
See, common courtesy is not too common, and some folks feel that being an ass, makes their claim more valid or something. And let me say this,
I AM NOT TALKING ABOUT ANYONE IN PARTICULAR
I'm generalizing the internet forums as a whole, not singling anyone out, don't read that in what I am saying.
We have a great forum, with alot of folks, some new faces, some old one's (Trade), some really smart guys/gals, and some really dumb one's (Murph).
Its diversity, and everytime I talk to Ethan about, he is so happy the forum is what it is, its kinda funny to watch.
Ya'll make this place what it is, don't let that change.
