I've been away from Bladeforums for a long while and I'm shocked to read this. I think it was through his website that I originally found this site years ago. His posts were always well thought out (in a very VG way) and his posts made me laugh my ass off. He was a good guy, definately missed in the knife community. Thank you for bringing this to my attention but I'm sad to hear that a legend is gone.

i met vg at the blade show after 9-11. i was down displaying the wtc knife set and he and i struck up a conversation. we had a few laffs and kept in touch for a while thru email. he was the one that told me about bladeforums. i lurked a long while before i posted. he was right . he said that there was a great group of guys here. R.I.P.

Wow... I go away for a while and I come back to this.

What a loss. VG was an eccentric, big-hearted, decent guy. I'm so sorry to hear of his passing. I hope that it was just an accident and that he had no pain. I'm sure he is happy now - together again with his wife.

Part of me wants to say that the world is a less colorful place now that he is gone.

I think, though, that I prefer to say that the world is a more colorful place for his having lived.

Rest easy Dave. We never personally met. We exchanged words in conversation here at BFC a couple of times and I really liked you. So many people here have expressed their grief at your passing - and that is a real testament to the quality man that you were in this life. Take care and rest easy.

He came like the wind, like the wind touched everything, and like the wind was gone.

Wow! I haven't been here in a while. What a shock. I talked with Dave by email a couple times and like everyone else here, enjoyed his wickedly funny posts. Go in peace friend. Your kindness and humor touched more lives than you could possibly ever know...

Remembering Dave as a teenager.......
hanging out rock & rolling and I do mean some
serious guitar playing in all the New Jersey clubs
as a member of the well know band Monroe.
These days were some of the best times of my life.
They will always remain such.
Dave will be missed by many including
all of his friends that he grew up with.
Many are not aware of his passing.
Rest In Peace Gittelman
