Racism run amuck ?

I came across a radio talk show last night and heard a caller explain that if you were in a an oriental restaurant and used a fork that was a racist slur !!!!....I have gone to a chinese restaurant with chinese friends and used chopsticks [learned that at a very early age] but some of the chinese used forks. How would the caller explain that ?? People have gone way over the edge.
 
Only if you throw the fork onto the floor , and ask if the noise made is how they name their children.
 
What??? You mean an idiot called a radio talk show and said something stoopid???
 
That caller has no idea what he is talking about, I practically LIVE on Asian food, and they could care less what utensils you use, other than some have admitted to me it's fun to watch customers learn to use chopsticks!

I used to go to a Chinese takeout place around the corner from my house when I was a city-dweller. I used to open the top of the little container and make meowing sounds when they handed me my food. The owner used to make them back at me when he saw me walking down the street. Definitely not PC but we both thought it was pretty funny.
 
It might interest you to know that the term "oriental" is now considered a racist slur by "asians"living in America. :rolleyes:

I guess I just used a racist slur by not referring to them as Asian-Americans, but I don't believe in hyphenated Americans.
 
I am terrible at using chopsticks. So I take out my knife and whittle each one down to a point with a barb on it and use it to spear food. (I only eat at the cheap places that have disposible wooden chopsticks).

Actually I find it racist when I am eating at a restraunt and they give me a knife with a rounded tip. As a full blooded Viking-American I find this to be insulting, as it is the way of my people to utilize nothing short of one's own shortsword or battle dagger to rip food apart at the table for consumption. And ROUND GLASSES are HERESY TO ME because MY PEOPLE only DRINK FROM THE SKULLS of OUR ENEMIES.

I think that some people just need to feel superior, and the only way they can do it is by showing how others aren't as "sensitive, enlightened, or elitist" as others.

Many years ago (think mid-eighties), my martial arts teacher, a fresh off the boat Chinese national, and I decided to grab a bite to eat after class. We went to a Chinese restaurant at his expressed desire. Upon being served I was fumbling around with chopsticks eating the best way I could, while he was deftly picking grains of rice to eat. He saw me and asked, "Why you use chopsticks?" I replied, "Well, I just wanted to use what seemed to be appropriate." He looked at me briefly and said, "You eat with what you know how to use." Then he smiled and said, "Besides, fork better, you can get more food on it."

It sounds like the caller was just repeating rumors he heard because he's the type that likes to be angry about those things. The whole thing sounds dumb. If they were insulted by the use of forks, they wouldn't have forks in their restaurant, would they?
 
Pathetic. I suppose if I eat my tacos with a spoon , that means i'm racist.
A lot of people are just dumb lol.
 
Yeah, no argument, total manure. I happen to have a bunch of Asian friends, most of the time they are just amused watching people who can't use chopsticks, but they couldn't care less. And thats in their homes or in restaurants. Some people just want something to b*tch about.

But

I suppose that it would be discourteous of me to point out that the word is spelled "amok" and not "amuck". :)
