Radar Detector

aren't radar detectors becoming obsolete with the cops shifting towards laser? with laser you can detect it only when they are pointing it at you making it too late to slow down.

No because you can't sit back and relax doing laser detail. You have to work.(aim)

The spray crap is BS; don't bother with it.

I don't remember who did it (Car and Driver I think) but the Veil stuff proved to delay the time it took to get a laser lock on a cars license plate/shiny parts. So it won't prevent the laser, wasn't meant/marketed to do that, but it will buy you a few seconds for the laser splash to hit your detector and for you to slow down.

V1 all the way here. I've tried the others, and they just don't work as well for me. Sensitivity is great on some of the higher-end brands, but the arrows and the number of sources really help you make a better judgment as to what you're actually dealing with. It's also pretty hard to hold a V1 in your hand and not be impressed with the quality of it. I believe they are rubbed by hand on the thighs of virgins during assembly. :D

NICE i will be ordering it if i cant find any one who sells em around here, Thanks guys.

the only place to buy one is direct from V-1.

i too saw the article about the plates delaying the time of lock, car & driver IIRC.

Question,,, what lazer do they use? I know that most are dangerous to the eyes so there must be some compromise.

Some, many years back, I used to drive with a camera flashgun (with a remote flash activation switch) taped just to the side of each licence plate at night. So as a speed camera flashed at me my flash guns used to go off and burn the film. I note that the new cameras are not so vunerable.

Is there anything out there that will mimick the return of the laser and error the reading?

Where do you get that "most" lasers are dangerous to the eyes?
That's incorrect. On top of that, the guns use non-visible wavelengths, and powers levels far below what could cause damage.

Laser jammers are produced, but the more socialist-leaning states ban them, so they aren't widespread meaning you're not going to find much good info about their effectiveness. I'm also not sure how they manage to hit the gun's pickup with any reliability unless they just blast in a really wide spread.

Laser radar used by police isn't, but "most" of them are dangerous. Flash blindness and afterimages aren't exactly "safe". Particularly not while driving down the road. Not causing screams of agony and bleeding from the ears doesn't make it safe.

Police laser is very low-power, so a transmitter that overpowers the reflection from your car is the best way to "jam" it. It's like what you've done with the flashes, Tim. I would think it'll be a while before you see an influx of laser radar in Botswana, though. :D

cops can tell when ya "jam" there radar guns, and its illegal to do that in all 50 states, IIRC its federally regulated. this is why no one sells jammers (the phazer jammer doesnt work.)

they do sell kits to make jammers that do work but use it and the cops are gonna know and take the thing away, minimum.

Or any traps for that matter. Very very rare in bots. Never been trapped locally. However the South African cops are getting more and more nasty with their ray guns. However my old phone seems to bleep in the vicinity of police radar. What about that 3M reflective tape? My brother ( electronic engineer) had a neat kit he made that used to pick up the radar and fire it back at a higher pace so the police would have a reading of a Volvo 145 stationwagon doing 250km/hr, try that one in court.

I have V1 and a Passport, both seem to work fine. There are very few cars on the road by me and "instant on" is the biggest threat to me.

I wish you good luck, but nothing comes close to a genuine factory-quality virgin thigh rubbing. :D
