Radius Grinder Platens, second run. Sold Out

12-11-10

Everyone is paid up and the last couple of these went out today. A sincere thank you to everyone for making this go so smoothly.

Nathan, What a great platen! Used it today for a run if knives. Bolted on perfect and worked sweet as can be. Thank you for a fantastic product at an unbelivable price!

Eric

Will there be another run? I certainly have an interest. I'd like to grind a chopper or two with it.

respectfully,
Jose Diaz

Received my 48” radius platen today. Gorgeous machining! It is nice to see what a real machinist can produce compared to the crap I make. I can't wait to try it. Thanks again Nathan!

How come when we responded to this thread that it didn't go to the top of the list? I'm finding it on pg. 4?

For sale threads no longer bump, they list in the order of original post. Sellers are allowed to post new threads after two weeks.

As a result, chatting in a sale thread is now allowed.

If anyone is following this old thread - I'm planning on a new sale thread tomorrow morning, Saturday Feb 5th.

To anyone that has wanted to get in on these in the past, now is the chance. They go fast (ask me how I know...). I was able to get a 48" platen on the second run and let me say, it is awesome. Nathan's expertise and craftsmanship is outstanding! You will not be disappointed IMHO.:thumbup::thumbup:

Nathan,

Would you consider and do you think there would be interest in a run of flat platens with radius edges?

I don't know if there would be any interest or not. If there was enough interest in it I'd do a run. I'm booked up solid for the next few months, but if there is interest and I get an opening I'd setup and do a few.

Are the flats just direct replacements or somehow customized?

They're 1/2", which is a little thicker than a direct replacement, hardened steel and have an air injection port for folks who want to grind against an air buffer. There is a radius on the leading and trailing edge, 1/8" on one end, 1/4" on the other for folks who want to finish grind lengthwise and have the platen form the plunge. It is a niche item so I'm only making 7 of them.
