Why is the lanyard hole so far forward on the handle?
 
Thats a good question. I've been pretty random with lanyard holeplacement. My main concern is that it stays away from the edge of the material, and doesn't create a tiny sliver of cross grain wood that will chip easily. I've been called on it twice lately as not very functional. Truthfully, I just don't use a lanyard, y'all are likely right. I'm re-thinking my lanyard tube placement philosophy and will be moving them back some. I'd hate to get rid of the bullseye tube on wood handles, but may.
 
Don't you get rid of that bullseye tube. Try to work it out. I typically do not use lanyards but I have to on some knives just to get the knife out of the sheath. I usually have custom sheaths made where some of the knives ride deep in the sheath. That causing me to use a lanyard so I can get a better purchase on the knife to pull out.
Again is it for sale?

That was a contest knife that was raffled off to support the site, says so on the first page of this thread. That said I'm thinking that design was later morphed into the Bushfinger design which he is making more of.
