Rambo Knives

Over the period of almost a year, Gil made several designs for the movie. Sly kept coming back saying he wanted something more crude looking until they arrived at the one you see in the movie.

Yeah, Sly says on the DVD that he pounded on the knife for something like 15 hours and went through a dozen pair of gloves. Yeah, right.

As he did for Rambo III, Gil sent several blades in various stages of completion. He also made a video for Sly showing him how to go through the motions of forging for the movie.

Sly may have beat on a hot pre-made blade for the film but I seriously doubt that he ever made a knife. The prop guy did make a aluminum copy for safety in close contact scenes since all of the knives that Gil sent were real hardened and sharpened knives.
