Randall knife disapointment

The only thing I would like to add is when I initially phone Randall and complained about the missing thong hole and what I perceived to be a brass hilt due to the light yellow color. I was told "there should be no yellow tint whatsoever" I then made a joke of it and said "I thought maybe you guys added yellow die #5 by mistake." I was then told again that is should have no yellow and to sent the knife in for a repair/correction.

As I mentioned on the other forum, I can accept that nickel has has a yellow tint as it was explained to me by numerous knife collectors. But I have a hard time with the company who built the knife not explaining this from the outset. And to even tell me that there should be no yellow tint.

The burr and shavings is still bunk after a four year wait IMO. Offering a refund on a custome ordered item is not customer service IMO.

That's all folks.

old post but a good point that I want to add to.
I just received my new #1-8 with nickel double hilt and duraluminum butt.
I was sure that I got the wrong knife because of the BRASS double hilt. That is how I found this thread. After a deep breath, I was allowing for the fact that maybe it is just a yellow tint for it did not smell like brass. Stacked commando grip on stainless makes the yellow tint really obvious which is a shame, then factor in the white of the duraluminum butt and it's double.
I'm lucky though because I bought this knife for work (sheep rancher) and it will get ugly fast. But it was still a bit of a surprise.
Good luck to you collectors out there. I would re-think the nickel choice.

I still love Randall Made knives. However I agree with Av8r, the quality is going down. The older knives have a feel, finish, and fit wholey different from anything new I have seen. The customer service is nothing like what built the "brand", and the quality is suffering to keep the collector market happy.

I wonder what Bo Randall would think of all this. The shop is clearly very comfortable living under his shadow for as long as the sun stays out, with little or no vision for the future. Even their catalog is outdated and makes claims the shop will not fullfill for any order.
