I'd like to start a dicussion about Randall Made knives that are actually used, not just sitting in a collection. I know these are collectables and hold their value but how many of you that own one have used it like you would a BRK&T, Becker, Benchmade, Buck etc. I've used this model 25-5 on numerous deer hunts having gutted, skin and butchered at least a half dozen deer. I've mainly carried it hunting but have it used it alot. So let's here what you do or have done with your Randall.

Scott, You're the only person I know that uses their Randall! Strange thing, right? That nobody uses theirs. (I've always wanted a 25-5:thumbup:)
If I had one, I'd use it.:)

Mitch, that blade was almost black from the blood. That bad boy was buried inside many a deer's chest cleaning it out. I cleaned it up but it still has some patina.

I want one. How's it hold an edge? O-1, right? I heard that their HT isn't that great. Any truth to that rumor?
- Thanks

I'm not sure what the hardness is but this one does well holding an edge.

I should get my Model 14 next year sometime. I'll probably use it, albeit lightly.

Ive used 2 of my 5 Randalls. Plan on useing the others at some point. I used one to make a shelter and a pine borrow bed, for a over nite camp out

I have only one Randall (not too many of those around here in Finland), but I have used it. Not a lot, though, since frankly I don't think it performs very well (certainly not compared to the price tag). It's technically finely made, but the design does not hold too much appeal to me, and since it's more of a collector's item anyway and I have knives that perform better for my purposes, I don't see any reason to use it besides curiosity, which was satisfied when I last used it. I can appreciate the history of the knife, and that's reason enough to own it, for me.

hey guys, I have 2 Randall's that have been and will continue to use. Models 20 and 21, both with stag handles. The '20' has done 4 deer and the '21' has done more small game than I can remember. Later, Bob

This model 12 Confederate bowie has seen a fair amount of use.:D

The 4" false edge is hell on batons though, and consequently anyone around you when batoning.:o

Hey Scott
I currently have seven Randall's In my collection, like you my favorite is the model 25-5 in O1 with Red Maple Burl
I bought it from A.G. Russell this is the one that gets the most use, usually during deer season and it is one of the best looking knives i own below is a list of my randalls
mod.#1-7" stag O1
mod# 18-8" ATTACK/SURVIVAL SS
2 MOD#15-5" ONE IN O1 OTHER SS
MOD#14 7" stainless
Mod#12-8 Big BEAR Bowie
1of500 stag skinner made for A.G. Russell
all have seen some use, the #18 was used often as my woods blade for a few years after i got it just to prove to my satisfaction that it would hold up, the rest are mostly safe queens these day's been using alot of BRKT knives and A new F-1 I think the 25-5 will allways be my deer knife no matter what else comes along

Mike, you right about the 25. It's best as a hunting knife. I rarely use it much anymore. I use another makers knives more now. :D
