My random collection of Gerbers, some from the glory days of Gerber International when the likes of Pete Kershaw, Blackie Collins and Al Mar were employed by Gerber
Some of the first and toughest plastic handled knives made in the 80s the 600, The Bolt Lock. Followed by 4 Silver Knights in 3 different sizes. The Silver Knight has an obvious Al Mar influence and were some of the finest knives Gerber had made in Seki Japan or anywhere, the F&F was excellent and on par with hand fitted/made knives.
Of course you can't forget their first for ray into the multi tool which was a huge failure because of the terrible ergonomics, when closed the handles were parallel to facilitate the OTF Switch Opening of Gerber's Gen 1 Multiplier which was quickly discontinued when it was discovered that when cutting wire the handles would pinch the skin on the palm of your hand leaving a nice blood blister.
Aside from the Silver Knights as one of my favorite patterns there's also the last of the Gerber International knives, the SL 3.25 series, these came with various scale materials G10 and my favorite the Carbon Fiber SL3.25 with ATS34 blade steel and a deep pocket clip that makes it disappear in your pocket. The SL3.25 was an underrated knife that should of got more attention before they discontinued it. Premium materials, CF, ATS34 and Titanium. This knife is right up there in quality along with ZT and BM but much cheaper in price, it had a $100 MSRP but regularly sold for $60 for the CF model.
I'd love to see Gerber regain it's former reputation for quality cutlery instead of a launchpad for Bear Gryllis tagged knives and pseudo survival equipment.
