Asymetrical grind so it works well either way! It was edge quenched so yes on the HT.

It's dirty in the pic, I was cutting all vegetation in sight on the way up from the shop! I am going to clean it up and etch it. The grind is a full flat to a zero convex bevel. Nasty!

Somomabitch! Tuna Maki, or scaley goodness? I think it'd look kickass with some CF inlaid silver twill. MILL TIME! :D

Tuna Maki, lmao!!!!

Yes I'll do a cord wrap. :D It is hard to see but there is a hidden plunge so no scales. ...smooth! The tang is also tapered a bit.

I propose naming that knife "Teh Big Tuna" :D

I second that!

It is very tuna sword-ish isn't it!

That would be a good use. I kept the RC high at around 60, it is tough yet will hold a killer edge. The grain should be very fine too as it went through a serious heat treat!

I also played with some Alabaster this week.

Chisel Ground, Convex and Hollow Bevels. Stone age influenced design. The edge holding is pretty bad though...

I second your seconding! That was kind of the reason I called it that, too. I had a friend who ran charters off Cape Cod when I was in college, and I used to ride up in the tower of his deep sea fisher. The "Tuna Sword" was just a big Dexter Scimitar though. :D

I think the biggest Tuna I saw one summer was about 300 pounds. Some dude who fishes in the caverns off Delaware with my boss got a nearly 900 pounder a few years ago. He messed up and didn't get the prize for some lame technical reason though.

Nice red snappers, too! I'd bet that Tuna came in around 75 pounds from the look.

Bako two time Bako two time. :D

D- pics of the back side of that 'tuna blade' :) remind me of the steel? thanks! annnnnd let's have a great week!

Will do! 18" of 3/16 O1 tool steel

Yeah time for a good week! I'm going to be busy, I have my mother-in-law and her mom coming to visit.
