My personal favorite of the three variants, Adam, and I am set on those. Just have a hole in the collection where an EDC3 should be and I am tired of looking at it.
 
Which CPK will be the most useful in helping Nathan the Machinist Nathan the Machinist escape from his unjust incarceration?

Remember, it may have to dig, pry, chop and defend his life against outlaw prison gangs jealous of his wavy locks...and it has to be compact enough to be smuggled into the facility.

I'm going with the HDFK, for its "all around" utility...but some of you old hands may have other options. Let's hear 'em.

Basic field knife, black linen micarta scales. Ghetto grind. No, I’m not partial to that at all…

I'm going to opine that the ghetto grind or lack thereof, and which particular scales are on the knife are going to be of limited extra benefit in the stated scenario.

But I think the choice of a BFK is entirely suitable.
 
In the “indispensable” thread I chose my EDC as my “if I could only keep one” option. And that is/was because I rely so heavily on it in my everyday life.
If I’m allowed to choose from my CPK collection in a scenario where it’s one knife for all situations, or for a situation with many unknowns, I’d take the HDFK. It’s just so versatile and stout. Would one of my FKs or BFKs fall short of the mark? Probably not. But the robust nature of the HDFK instills confidence. It’s definitely the one to take into this situation as it would only take a few days for the HDFK to get you out Shawshank/Escape from Alcatraz style.
