Random Thought Thread

OK, I went back and checked,, and my FK2 with ghost black G10 scales weighs 8.6 ounces. My other FK2 does weigh 7.6 ounces, but I realized that it is a hard-thin FK2 with a swedge, and the scales are terotuff, not micarta., so the weight difference is probebly due largely to the hard-thin grind, and some to the terotuff.. I have another standard FK2, but it currently doesn't have the micarta scales on it for comparison purposes.
 
Be glad you're not in California (for a variety of reasons...). But WRT diesel, I paid 4.999/gal 2 weeks ago. 2 days ago I thought 5.999/gal was a good price (most stations were around 6.599 to 6.999/gal). Mostly I drive my diesel Beetle, but I have two Ford diesel trucks that take between 32 and 36 gallons to fill. That puts a fillup for the trucks around $200.00. Mostly, I leave them parked-it's really expensive to haul air these days-hoping I can buy another CPK with my savings! 😔
 
Times like these I'm glad I drive a little Yaris sedan. 11.1 gallon tank and 34mpg back and forth to work. up to 45 on the highway. Not trying to be an asshole, but I got a little car for back and forth to work for a reason. Not much room but at least I put a good sound system in it.
I'd rather drive a bigger car/truck, but like I said, times like these....
 
My Beetle got 40mpg city and up to 45mpg freeway when it was new. Unfortunately, it sucked a valve at 320K miles. It was a "before the scandal" diesel, and the scandal eliminated new diesels from the US market, so I put a new engine and trans in it. I had two choices for the 5th gear on the trans (manual trans), and I picked the wrong one. It turns over around 1200rpm at 60mph in 5th, but won't sustain the speed at ANY up-grade, But if I can do 80+ on the freeway (rare, but doable during late-night or early-morning hours), it will knock down 45 mph. Oh yeah; when I put in a new engine and trans, I also upsized the turbo, changed the injectors, and a couple other things. My mechanic estimated it's probably putting out around 150-160 HP, compared to stock at 90+-, so while it won't blow the doors off of a sports car, it's still fun to drive. Almost 400K miles on it at the moment.

Believe me boss, was already glad to not be in CA. I let my truck sit when I can, but it is a necessary evil for me in most cases. Yes, you should save a lot driving that TDI, but CPKs are overrated, I hear Hobacks are where its at.

When you drive a Yaris, you aren't trying any longer, you are succeeding. :p I kid, I kid!

If I thought I could put a hitch on a Yaris and still tow an excavator that wasn't made by Tonka or Matchbox, I'd do it. Unfortunately, my rig is a little bigger and heavier than that, so if I did, I am afraid the Yaris's uterus would fall out on the highway. So, stuck with the big diesel tank till something better comes along.

If that's the case, does it mean you're liquidating the beautiful collection of CPKs that you posted on the CPK Photos thread? If so, please let me know and I'll happily relieve you of (at least some of) your collection of "overrated knives". 😃

And for the record, I know nothing of Hoback knives, but a search of the GBU thread seems to indicate they're in the grease for something or other. If I missed an inside joke, please fill me in; I'm a bit of a newcomer to the CPK world.🤷‍♂️

3 years ago, I specifically looked for a little hatchback that got ~40mpg for commuting. Definitely glad I did.

Out of curiosity last year, I looked to see what I could get for it with ~55,000 miles on it. Found 3 of the exact same model in that mileage range, going for ~$2,000 - $3,000 more than I paid when it had ~700 miles on it.

Currently, I’m trying to only bid on jobs for people who are in the oil industry so I can gouge them for Grenock Grenock .

Maybe, but I don’t let many go, and I have quite a few left to show. I’ll keep you in mind, but be aware in case I call, I don’t accept PayPal, cash, check or charge for knife sales. I only take prize winning hogs, stump broke goats and five gallon buckets of bacon grease as payment, please provide photos of the goat.

Yeah, Hoback is in the grease, nothing inside, just the current drama at the moment on the forum, just thrown out there to see who’s reading and to pass the word a little.
