I'll get it started:

I've recently realized that most of my "landscaping" is done with Roundup...
Reaching back to the roots of the OP in this thread, I just used an electric dethatcher for the first time, today.

😲

Man, that thing pulled up a LOT of dead, matted grass. Going to use a spreader to overseed tomorrow. Curious to see the results of the dethatching and overseeding in a month or two.

BTW, Matt AKA Casinostocks it's nice to have you back brother. I hope you're well.

All's well Darrel, thank you and also many thanks to all those OGs who reached out privately wondering about me. I wasn't really gone any where, just not in front of the computer as much where I used to post from incessantly in the past. I find posting from my smartphone very annoying as I tend to litter the bandwidth with typos and such (phat fingers, waning eyesight).

There may be a big / huge move in my immediate future so I may go stealth once in a while when on the road and busy with the relocation life. I kept up with most postings late at night on my phone and proud to say that most of you guys are still truly full of it 😇

More popular in the United States than Mexico, Cinco de Mayo has become associated with the celebration of Mexican-American culture. Celebrations began in California, where they have been observed annually since 1863. The day gained nationwide popularity beyond those of Mexican-American heritage in the 1980s due to advertising campaigns by beer, wine, and tequila companies; today, Cinco de Mayo generates beer sales on par with the Super Bowl.

Cinco de Mayo is sometimes mistaken for Mexico's Independence Day—the most important national holiday in Mexico—which is celebrated on September 16, commemorating the Cry of Dolores in 1810, which initiated the war of Mexican independence from Spain.

Commercial interests in the United States have capitalized on the celebration, advertising Mexican products and services, with an emphasis on alcoholic beverages, foods, and music. According to Nielsen, in 2013 more than $600 million worth of beer was purchased in the United States for Cinco de Mayo, more than for the Super Bowl or St. Patrick's Day.

So . . . drink 'em if you got 'em! 🍺

Good to see you posting again, Matty. Always a little concerning when regular posters go radio silent for s stretch (and thanks to Jo, for the update, too).

So... is the move potentially to a locale with fewer restrictions on 'toys'? 😁

B bluemax_1 you will see a dramatic change. It will be awesome. I hope you post pictures.
Fingers crossed.

This was the difference between the lawn before and after mowing low, prior to dethatching

And a closer shot of the matted thatch

That was basically the reason for Googling: it looked OK at an angle/from a distance (especially when it was a little longer/taller), but when I looked straight down, I could see how sparse the green/live grass actually was, and how much brown matted dead grass there was.

Could've made hay bales with the amount of thatch the dethatcher pulled up 😂
