Viewed another way, though...

The reason they can make money off it is because they're providing entertainment for people willing to pay for it. How does that differ from athletes being paid millions to run around with balls of various sizes, or actors paid to pretend?

Is providing entertainment a waste? I think the answer is pretty subjective.
 
Watched the sheriff tow a tweaker out of our neighborhood tonight. 😂😂 Dudes been in front of my house broken down for three days. Said he’d been waiting on a water pump from Oreilly for a week. I called, they have them in stock. I called the sheriff after he started beating his truck with a pipe wrench before I did something dumb. My neighbor called and said he thought he was doing drugs in his truck 😂 Never seen four sheriffs show up so fast, oh man never a dull moment here!
 
As of yesterday I'm the proud new owner of a 2 bedroom 1 bathroom house on 15.5 acres of land !... that is about an hour away from Albuquerque,NM ...and top of that my divorce was finalized by the judge today as well and then today I was finally able to open the box from jo Carothers/Carothers performance knives which held i4nside my two UF2'S !.... my single edge variant and my double edge variant UF2 ! I'm very pleased with both knives as there both exactly how I want them with that being said I think I might be missing a set of blue heated ti fasteners/hardware other then that both
Knives are perfect !...

I watch people play video games sometimes on Twitch. Mostly I watch stream highlights on their youtube channels since I don’t have all day and it’s fun to do that while I work out. I’ve been playing vg since the days of Zork and Atari 2600 but I don’t have a lot of time to play (and no weed) since getting married 10 years ago. I still like it though.

Watching someone play is a social thing, I think. You watch someone you like play a game you like and as it happens you participate in a spontaneous discussion happening around the play. Different games have different communities (I only watch first person competitive shooters, for example) and the personality of the streamer pulls in a type of person to watch. Some streamers are dumb pricks and some are more mature. You can learn a lot about a game watching them play so if you don’t have a lot of time, it can really help you learn competitive play. Plus it’s just interesting. It’s the same as watching UFC to me, just minus the pressure of competing since most streams are daily.

One thing though, I do have to say: streaming is not a nice or enviable life. The top 1% of the top 1% make money. The huge majority makes subsistence living, if anything at all. You have to stream all the time, same as any TV channel. There was a good article not too long ago in Washington Post about a streamer named Tyler1. It’s worth reading.

I have never been a hugely prolific buyer/seller here but circumstances as they are now have motivated me to 1.) never sell a knife and 2.) give a potential purchase a second and third thought (which usually means that someone else scoops it up). I don't need to sell a knife to buy a knife and if I am going to buy a knife on the secondary market, it will be from an established member in good standing here.

(I don't mess around on any other social media - too much risk and I am not into the whole FOMO culture that pervades knife collecting these days)

Anything and everything short of intentionally breaking it. Don't put a cheater bar on it and pry with it or hit it with a big hammer etc and you'll be fine.
