True North =/= magnetic North.

Compasses work due to the magnetic field produced by the Earth's iron core. Thing is, the magnetic field moves slightly, year to year.

Also, how do you know that the core of the earth is made of iron? The furthest Humans have ever drilled into the crust is less than ten miles. How then can we know it's made of iron and not something else?

COULD it be made of iron? Maybe?
