Random Thought Thread

After just trolling thru EB and ACK, I'm wondering if my Spyderco Nirvana is really worth $1.8K and if the value of my entire collection rose 100% in just the past year. I think not but I'd like to think so. LOL! ;)
I've given up on trying to keep track. If I decide to sell something...which is relatively rare, but occasional...I'll worry about its value then.

Otherwise, I know I have "a lot" invested in them, but I'm no longer worrying about a collective dollar value as they were not purchased with the intention of securing capital gains.

You are truly a renaissance man in the realm of fine beers and ales, Yoko. I don't experiment as much these days as I hate buying a six pack or twelve only to find that I'm underwhelmed by the brew.

That said, I'd be happy to pound a few with you if and when the opportunity arises.

On the topic of cryptids, are there any Aussie cryptids and links to read?

Most of the cryptid accounts I've read are from North America (eg. Bigfoot/Sasquatch/Skunk Ape, Dogman etc.), and of course, everyone's heard of the Yeti/Abominable Snowman in the Himalayas etc.

Only thing I recall, aunt from Oz gave me a book; 'Australia's Most Dangerous Creatures'.

Everything from the Sydney Funnel Web, to Taipans and Brown snakes, saltwater crocs, blue ringed octopi, Irukandji jellyfish. I asked, "Trying to tell me not to come visit?" 😂😂😂

P.S.

Some... cultural(legislative?) differences make the US a little unique in some ways.

One of the firearms forums I'm on, had a person post a thread about weird occurrences on his rural property. Within a short time, a couple cryptid enthusiasts popped in the thread and ID'ed some of the weird occurrences as territorial "squatch behavior.

Within the week, a whole bunch of folks had volunteered to take the time off to come to the OP's place for a Cryptid Campout/Sasquatch Stakeout, listing all the gear they had, and would bring along, including NVGs, thermal, and of course, on a gun forum, all sorts of guns, including .50BMGs.

Basically, the person who'd originally posted about the problems, could have had a large, well-armed platoon onsite in short order. No idea why they never took 'em up on the offer 😂😂😂

To be honest I am not sure! I only just started looking into it. There is the yowie which is our version of bigfoot and said to be dogman sightings as well. If I find any good videos, I shall pass them on.

LOL at the dangerous creatures 🤣 they sound worse/more common than they are.
Big cats and bears sound far more frightening then what we have here!
The only time I have come close was on my honeymoon when I nearly stepped on a redbelly blacksnake while trekking through a golf course to get to a beach. Wife saved my life by yanking me 🤣

The other deadly creatures you mentioned are far less common, although yes, really dangerous. But then again, I live near the city.

my one wish is to see a jackalope before I die

Currently in California and there's no way I could live here. The heat, the water restrictions, the traffic. At least the Mexican, Vietnamese and Korean food here is really good.

Also feels weird not having a pistol with me, but nothing I can do about that. I also bought a "sacrificial" pocket knife (old Benchmade) in case it got stolen out of my check in.

I've noticed that one of the things that I don't like about my vacation trips is the saltwater and the ocean air seems to make my belt shrink
You're supposed to eat enough so that you don't need a belt on vacation. 😅
