Is that going to be an 8" blade on the semi integral dagger?I went ahead and closed the votes before things got weird.
Based on current numbers (and numbers from yesterday before folks started gaming the vote) it looks like:
The Shiv 2.0 is the clear winner. We will be having an open pre-order for the Shiv. Soon. Carothers Performance Knives has never done a pre-order for the Shiv so this will be a first for this remarkable pattern in its first run in Delta 3V. I'm very pleased to see a return of this pattern, I absolutely adore it.
I need to keep the numbers sane so we can do the other patterns too so this might be a brisk pre-order, we will see.
The EDC1.2 is a clear runner up with a lot of interest in all the polls. I will order material for the EDC1.2 in both CPM 3V and Magnacut. This is a very useful pattern, and we will run enough to achieve inventory for shelf stock, dealers and our website.
3rd is murky and went back and forth a bit but it's the boot daggers. *
Number 4 brings us the return of the 10" Chopper. Which I was going to do regardless because CPK classics needs a chopper. Duh. I'll order enough steel for a small run. It will be the MC (my personal favorite 10") run in a thinner gauge and run at about 17-18 ounces (similar to the SDFK but with way more power). This will be a high performance light weight chopper with a thin edge and narrow grinds that disappears on your belt and cuts like a lightsaber. Not for knuckleheads.
I'm surprised we didn't see a return of the kitchen knives or D2 skinner or HDFK in there but there it is. The HDFK is a fantastic pattern, it is not retired, we will revisit it again in the future.
* I'm going to make a deeply unpopular executive decision here. I'm not going to run the boot daggers. This was a valuable data point for me and for the direction I need to take my business but (hear me out) I need to order steel to replace the steel that I ordered wrong when I got the material to make the Kukri. And I want to run the material that I have here as a semi integral dagger. This is a perversion of the intent of the "year of the classics", but I think a dagger of this nature still aligns with a classic CPK knife, even if it's new. I'm running a business. The material is here. I need to use it. And I don't want to release two different daggers (and a Shiv) next year. Stabbing is good, but that's too much stabbing. So I will substitute a new 8" dagger instead which will go on a different machine (with long program capabilities for all that surface milling) and run it in parallel with the K20 once the 3 DEK patterns are off all the mills. (that damn folder keeps getting pushed back, ugh)
Thank you everyone for voting. I wasn't sure about re-releasing the Shiv and I thought we'd be doing a kitchen knife and perhaps a skinner. Your votes helped me move forward to produce what it is that you folks actually want the most and I thank you for your input.
We're about halfway through machining the three DEK patterns (both steel and micarta). The logistics were every bit as funky as I thought they'd be but we're going to start heat treat for the DEK1 and the DEK2 around the end of next week.
You certainly make some definitive statements...The chopper and the edc...
All you'll ever need

Exactly what i am thinking too.Sounds like I need to sell some CPKs to afford some upcoming CPKs![]()
I’m in the same boat manThere is such an abundance of overbuilt knives. That’s one reason the Skinner excites(ed) me. I have a buddy looking for an heirloom quality hunting knife he can pass down to his son. A hunting inspired CPK is what I really wanted to point him towards.
Not really bitching, just thinking while sitting in a tree today.

What’s been going on around here, have I missed anything?
