Catching up... Sorry, y'all, please forgive me...
It is the UF on steroids and dialed up to 11.
This is Shiv.
I neither know nor care to find out how to produce internet "memes."
Still I wonder, how is it that no one conjured a meme for this, or when you invoked the Three Amigos about the watch?
It's nicer than any car that I've ever owned. The people who buy these don't care about these "shortcomings". If they forget where they parked it they just go buy another one. If the headlight is out it is not intended for the owner to replace it (the headlight). They'll spoil their manicure. The driver should take it to the dealership and they should drive their Bentley instead.
We have a rule Nathan: veiled sarcasm must be in green color font! That said, here is how to buy a used, second hand ML, say model year 2008 ML350: the original owner, one little ol' lady from Pasadena bought it back in 2008 for like $52K and during her ownership for almost 15 years, she sinks another $30K in regular maintenances and out of warranty repairs at the MB dealership ($150-$200 per hour nowadays?). When she dies, he state sells the ML for today's fair market value of around $6K, or trade it in for $3K. Well done Mercedes-Benz!
Hawaii has the world's cheapest market for used BMW's. I don't get it. I guess there's enough wealthy enough folks here that buy them new, only intending to hold on to them for ten years or less, who then sell them well below market prices when they go to get their new car? Maybe because people out here buying used cars can't afford BMW any more? IDK. I drive a BMW, despite being amongst the poorest people in Hawaii, because 1) after driving one, I couldn't go back to something with lesser handling and braking, and 2) it's about the cheapest thing to buy out here (used) and 3) I don't need a truck. I've owned enough of them now. At about 20 years old all the glue, rubber, and plastic on a BMW starts disintegrating, and all rubber and plastic parts neeed to be replaced, body panel clips come unglued and door panels come apart, belts and hoses disintegrate. The motors (especially the inline six) (short of the plastics) are about bulletproof, though. I easily expect 500,000+ miles out of mine before a rebuild (which would not be worth it).
Justin Fournier answered my texts, all is well... He's getting fat and he's happy... Sends his regards to all those who ask about him
ETA: I don't know what fat means in this context because back in the day he was like 165ish at 6 feet tall... He considered 185 to be a bit too fat!
Thanks for checking, Mat!
Needs to be a handle scale pic thread with lots of comparisons. Can ebonite be buffed to look more rich? Anyone have an opinion on buffed vs non buffed ecam? Thx guys
Non buffed ECAM for grip. Buffed for looks. I find after some use, unbuffed looks a lot closer to buffed, and still grips a bit better. Might be some advantage to buffing as far as sealintg the fabric, if there's any remaining potential for absorption.
Never been on facebook, twitter, instagram, what have you. These forums and one or two others. (less frequently), are the only places I visit and interact on.
I made a facebook account once, at the behest of some kid friends. Next thing I knew, everyone I had ever known in grade school "friended" me. Then I never heard from them again. Not that I reached out at all... Never touched the account or made any other social media accounts since then.
I was a fat kid growing up....I was always the first out lol
Me too!
* Mod edit
it's better unfinished. Archer fans will get the reference and nobody else will get it. Which is funny...
Sorry, San Diego. I'll keep it classy. Just got a little too excited...
I think Nate is trying to remind folks that he's endeavoring to create a more family friendly environment by leaving out the crass(er) stuff that most of us, (including the evil genius), typically revel in.
..
Y’all have got me sitting here like Roger Rabbit trying to resist Shave and a Haircut with some of the gems I’ve let pass over the last couple weeks. They say it gets easier with time, but I am not so sure, I feel like a shadow of my former self...
I hear you.
I'm finding that I have to say "it's difficult" rather than "it's hard"...and make other adjustments of the same sort just to try to avoid the repartee.
Eventually, Nate will find it all too confining and when the dam breaks...well, watch out!
if I can do it ANYONE can do it...
You guys can be the start of a special CoCK ring...
etc, etc.
Hre's my angle, folks. This is a public forum. That means there could be younger folks here, including young women. (Possibly even Nathan's kids). I don't think it will serve them to be influenced in this way. It might even really tur noff a youngin who was really into knives, or get them barred from being here (by their parents). I want to, as much as possible, support our youth into healthy development/maturity (not that I possess either...). When I was growing up, I used to listen to the Grease Man on DC101. I don't know how widespread he was, but I imagine at least some of you east coast guys must know the show. From what I remember (my memory may be jaded, guilded, and/or otherwise tainted!), he would say the forbidden, veiled in relatively innocuous verbage. Maybe, as some of you already do, that method could be adopted by the general culture here? Additionally, numerous comments have been posted which objectify women. At least one of this forum's intrinsic members is female. Again, young women might be present here. What impact do you want to have on kids and women? How do you want torepresent the CPK brand to the world? What kind of mentality do you want to engender in our CPK community? (Wait, never mind that last question!

)
I love my big knives but if I'm honest, I've never needed a large fixed blade in all my years of backpacking and climbing from Alaska to the Sierras to the Rockies to the Adirondacks, and White Mountains of NH.
I guess I was doing it wrong.
(But I still love those big knives. There's just something about 'em.)
Yes. Yes, there is.
I learned the value of a good knife from time in tropical forests.
But, yeah, if you’re walking trails or open habitats, and you’re not building your own shelters or fires, then there’s not much point in a large knife other than to make you think you’re looking cool/manly.
I find large kives invaluable for gardening/farming/landscaping/stewarding land.
It was going to be a hundred but we lost a few here and there to scrap and some were made into those ridiculous Bowies. It's going to be more like 80.
"Some"? "Those"? Are you feeling okay? Did you get kidnapped?
I had it a few years ago, and just spent time getting over it on my own via various exercises, trigger point and massage. It was a pain.
(No pun intended.)
Sure thing...
I don't know if "homestead" is a good substitute...and of course my earlier post was meant tongue in cheek...but I wasn't kidding about what the term "compound" brings to mind after the associations established via the media over the past few decades.
How about "salt mine".
Branch Carotherians? Fundamentalist Church of Latter Day Collectors of Carothers Knives?
hmmmm... No offense, and no intention to change the outcome here, you've been here longer than I have, Martin, with all due respect, I'm guessing this wasn't a planned event; just someone being nice to you after the fact...and, in any case, I believe in the same rules and etiquette for everybody on this forum...just sayin..
We had a joke when we were kids...
Why are Italian mothers so strong?
From raising so many dumbbells.
(Hey, I'm part Sicilian, and my wife's family origin is full Sicilian. I'm no hater.)
lollll! (50% Italian here)
Okay, all caught up. Can y'all tell I got me a com-pewter now?

After years of "I'll cobble a machine together tomorrow," I finally broke down and purchased a Windows box off the shelf at Costco. I can't believe I did, and I'm already regretful/resentful and conspiring to reprogram it. I can't believe the world has made themselves dependent on this utter PoS OS.
Good night/day, y'all!
