Yeah I’ve been looking, definitely not cheap. Only reason I’m keeping the stock VGT turbo is because the exhaust brake is so dang nice.
Had to give this a try.... waaaay to sweet.... like drinking frosting

Momma didn't raise no quitter ....No shame in pouring out a garbage beer once in a while.
Exact face after every sip(In Mallory Archer's voice): "Do you want pancreatitis? Because that's how you get pancreatitis."

I don’t necessarily want a 1st Gen, but maybe a 03 3rd Gen with the 5.9. Mines a 4th Gen 2014 and I love it. The actuator I ordered is supposed to be a heckuva lot better then the stock Holset one. It’s even guranteed for like 10 years. It’s supposed to also make the exhaust brake even stronger and better throttle response. And it’s supposed to work better in unison with my tuner. Just wish I didn’t have to wait 6 weeks. Now I need to track down 5 gallons of OAT coolant. Probably going to have to get that stuff from the dealer, as I don’t want to mix OAT and HOAT.My newest Cummins is a 2013, and I got flat-out spoiled by the brake. It's SOOO nice, and damn-near intuitive. With a 15K gooseneck and the truck (*about 25K gross combined), it'll practically stop itself at a stoplight/flat road if I let out of it early enough.
"Big Sid Vicious" (*my 2013 4th Gen) has been ASTONISHLY RELIABLE and just a WONDERFUL truck. However, it is also a VERY low mileage truck. Modern Cummins aren't traditionally fond of low mileage, but I've been prudent by only using it for highway driving and towing. I feel like it needs to lose a few parts to keep it going for another 10 or 20 years.
*If you feel like you "should of bought an older truck", stop by and drive that old 1st Gen. It'll change your mind pretty quickly. It's 160 horses and 400 ft/lbs. of sheer misery. It'll do 0-60 "by tomorrow". If I had to drive to work every day, I think I'd rather drive my 38-horse Massey-Ferguson. In the realm of "implements", the 1st Gen has the Massey beat by a country mile. (*The only thing the 1st Gen has going for it, over the Massey, is the radio)

You get that beer yet?!Heat treat optimization is neither glamorous nor exciting nor any other fun thing. This is hard work and tedious as hell. I want to go home and drink beer
I was really shocked Genos doesn’t carry it either. I found the fleetguard oat direct from fleetguard for $18 a gallon. I probably don’t want to know what shipping is on 5 gallons. It still might be cheaper to just go to the stealership.Man, I had a 2001 2nd Gen that I "ordered". The 6-speeds had a delay of about six months when I ordered, and I had no patience. So, I couldn't get an "H.O." Despite that, I got me a standard 6BT with a 5-speed "row-your-own". Man, that thing was a hotrod!
When it would rain, I'd "drift" that dually through the turns. Man, it was one of the BEST trucks I've ever owned. (*and I've owned a few) I've ALWAYS regretted getting rid of it.
*I have a "Cummins Southern Plains" right here in San Antone. They have all the fluid/filter goodies. If I can't get something through them, "Geno's Garage" is my next source. (*I was actually shocked to find that they didn't have the OAT coolant)
