Random Thought Thread

Here's a random thought.....

I love the idea of CPK fans meeting up..... but in my head the day starts at some sort of range... followed by all that stuff being put away and multiple styles of pizza showing up
.. followed by the snnnk pop sounds of adult beverages opening

By morning everyone is waking up to multiple Easter island head carvings and no body hair from checking their edges

Sounds like heaven......
Just before I moved away to take a new job, my shooting buddy gave me a send-off that included 2 machine guns, several shotguns and rifles up to 50BMG, and one mortar. Hell of a day.

I never saw that gadget before. Very cool. Still a lot of work to get it off the deck afterward, but still...that would be a godsend.
I use a roof snow rake for buildup- it is nice because you can take off a few inches at a time, or dig in and cause slides. I like to deal with shed a bit at a time so it isn’t too compacted and difficult to move. Those cutters look interesting, but I would hate to get caught under a shed/slide from the amounts they are dealing with now in Erie/Buffalo.

just saw one for $139 plus shipping from the maker.

Screw Amazon
Interesting. Last time I looked, I thought the price on their website was the same ($15X, but their shipping is an extra $27). If they lowered the price, good on them (there also appear to be a whole lot of Made in Chynuh imitators for ~$40 - $60 now vs ~10 years ago, which might explain the price drop).

Turns out the $235 I saw was an individual retailer. I wonder how they figure they're going to scalp 'em for $235 when the manufacturer (Roof Razor) is also selling them on Amazon (still at $154, shipping included)?

I’m starring out the window of my hospital room! It started out as pneumonia , which sucks, but I’ve dealt with it before. Now they’re found a dark spot which may be the infection, or scar tissue, or….maybe something else…
so to make it worse I’ve picked up a skin infection on my leg from all the antibiotics and steroids they pumped into me! Goody! Different antibiotic. All this since Thursday morning. So I’ve been chilling the last three days
And missed getting a couple of knives by seconds! Damn, all this time off a I still missed it by just a smidge.
I hope you get better soon!!!!!

When it's a choice between potential roof collapse vs not, I've seen people doing some really sketchy looking stuff clambering onto their roofs with a shovel 🥶
We had one year like that out here....

I don't like heights .....I was on the roof pushing off snow... but like a cat about to go into a bathtub....

My wife was crying laughing

Couple things about using those
1) keeping on it still applies. Removing the snow buildup every foot or so, is a better way to go than waiting until it stops.

3 feet of wet snow can be several thousand lbs. 6 feet has the ability to collapse roofs.

2) specific to using the Roof Razor, I made a slight mod that helps. If you've watched the videos, the 'sheet/chute' has an anchor point at the handle end. This can be left attached (which is a good idea, as otherwise, it can be a PITA flopping/flapping around).

Instead of using the cord, I use a bungee in the middle, then added eyelets to the ends of the 'sheet' pole. Clip a cord from the eyelet on ONLY one side (right handed, so I usually clip it to the left side), and the other end of the cord is clipped to the handle pole.

What this does, is when the blocks of snow slide down the chute sheet, the center bungee cord stretches with the weight, but the cord clipped to one end doesn't, so it tilts the chute so the block goes off the side before slamming into me.

If I need to stand to the right side of the pole/chute, I just unclip the cord from the left eyelet and clip it to the right eyelet so it tilts the chute the other way.
