Is this your first time getting it? My daughter and I are getting over it after a week, each of us going through the whole pandemic without catching it until now. Most folks who I know that currently have it have never gotten it before. It seems like there's finally a strain for everyone.

I hope you have a quick recovery, and please remember to hydrate.
Yep. First time. Hopefully my wife doesn't come down with it as well...but I suspect she might. Thanks for the good thoughts.

Glad to see you are well enough to be on here this morning. Hang in there and as I constantly say …stay hydrated!
Thanks. I had called the tele-health line for my health insurance provider last night. They said they would have a nurse return my call but they were backed up and it could be hours. I told the woman that if they couldn't call before 11 to wait until today.

Naturally they called me at 1.30 this morning. I was like WTF...anyway, it seems like I just need to ride it out. The meds she told me about sound worse than Covid...so that's a non-starter.

The cough is a bit annoying and feeling hot, then cold...but overall I don't really feel too bad for the most part.

Is bourbon hydrating? Asking for a friend. LOL.

I hope you have a quick turn around to feeling better and that your wife dodged it!

Sorry they called so late. With the Omicron variant, for most people riding it out is the plan. Rest, hydrate, Tylenol/Advil for fever/aches, hot showers, humidifier if it helps with moving sputum, etc. If you get worse in next day or so, the monoclonal antibody infusion can help. Rebound covid has been pretty common from treatments dulling the symptoms, only to have it come roaring back a week later. Thankfully the omicron variant does not generally have as serious symptoms or outcomes as delta, and most people bounce back pretty quick.

As for your friend’s question- no sir🤣

Party pooper.

(Thanks for the good info. 👍)

Thanks, brother. I'm hoping it won't prove to be that big a deal...but I guess you never know.
BTW, do you happen to have a pulse oximeter? It's good to have one just in case, anyway, but especially for keeping tabs on the 'vid.

If your SPO2 drops below 90%, it's ER time.

I've compared this one to my Masimo and Nonin pulse oximeters and it was spot on.

Innovo Pulse Oximeter

I do not have a pulse oximeter.

(But I do have a funny story about having a plethysmograph attached to a certain part of my anatomy while being used as a lab rat in college for some post-doctoral dissertation or such regarding responses to "suggestive" (read: porn) audio clips. Ah, those were the days.)

Not sure if I really need one of these gadgets. Isn't it good enough to go the ER when you feel like you're approaching death's door?

When I had it in September, there was just one main day where my legs felt like I had climbed a hill. I didn't get the antibodies because a couple people I know rebounded and probably prolonged it. My temperature was soon under control and on day 3 or 4 I took a little shot of rum. My temperature went soaring, so I laid off until it had fully passed. Actually by day 5 I was eager to get to the gym but didn't since I was still positive.

Might try quinine and zinc as well. Thats what I took when I had covid. Pretty sure I had Delta as Omicron wasn’t talked about yet.

I've had it a few times now and always fared better than my twice jabbed (I am of pure blood). arguably healthier wife by taking vitamins d+k, c, b-complex, bromaline, zinc, bio-quercetin, NAC, a multi, and melatonin at night. Also drank a lot of sparkling water with elderberry shrub and elderberry syrup. Always kept is very mild for me and never lost taste/smell like my wife.

While the Omicron variants typically haven't been as severe in 'most' people, there's still a risk of it causing viral pneumonia (and while increased risk factors like diabetes and obesity can increase the risk, it can and does happen to otherwise healthy individuals too).

Pneumonia isn't something to mess around with, and the pulse oximeter can provide an early warning (especially for stubborn individuals, who may resist going to the hospital until/unless they feel like they're 'on death's door' 😉).

More than a few young folks who've gotten pneumonia and 'toughed it out' for too long until they couldn't, but they'd waited until the pneumonia had gotten so bad, they had permanent loss of lung capacity (and in a couple of cases, went into multiple organ failure not long after admission, and passed away 48-72 hours later).

In general, if your SPO2 has dropped below 90%, your lungs are already compromised. The sooner you get to the hospital for treatment, the better. The body has some compensation mechanisms for low oxygen saturation, but once the compensation can't keep up, deterioration can occur very rapidly.

P.S.
For the wife, consider doing a little websearching on xylitol and iota-carrageenan, wrt viral infection. Numerous studies conducted in vivo and in vitro, showing that they're effective at inhibiting viral infections and reducing viral loads. There are iota-carrageenan and Xylitol nasal sprays (can potentially help reduce the chance of infection at the typical respiratory virus entry points), and Xylitol gum. The gum can also help reduce the viral loads in the throat for someone who's already infected).

Everything else is fine, but I'd avoid the elderberry. While it has immune boosting properties in general, there were some early studies that indicated it can increase the risk of a cytokine storm in vulnerable Covid patients.

I don't have a fever. At least nothing much. My normal temp is 97.5 or so...

I've ranged from just under to as high as just over 98. Right now I'm a little under again.

The nurse that I spoke to last night told me that they don't recommend re-testing after the five to ten day hiatus because some folks still test positive after three months. (She attributed a lot of what she told me to CDC guidelines.)

I plan on taking off the week from working out...and keeping my physical activity to walking the dog and doing crap around the house.
