My family put a GREAT man in the ground today after 85 years. My uncle Eldon was the last of my moms siblings to die, he had Alzheimer’s and went from one of the smartest people that I have ever known (he had a master degrees in mathematics and science) to a man that didn’t know what a garden hose was. He and aunt Mary never cared about my blended family and always greeted us with open arms when others in the family judged us. He had lived on the farm where he was born for the last 25 years. That aloud him to live our his last years out in peace. The service was at his church where he had been a member for 40 plus years. He had a great relationship with god and him and aunt Mary spend decades teaching Bible study for the children of the church. I know it a blessing that he has passed but the burnt hamburgers will be missed We had family bbqs every year at the farm my kids and grandkids loved to feed the cows and eat cherries on the orchard. I hope to some day be half the man he was. Thank you guys for a place to remember him.View attachment 2021823

Sorry for your loss. Sounds like your uncle was a man that made a difference in your family’s life, as well as many others.

I’m so very sorry for the loss of your Uncle, my prayers go out to you and your family. That is such a beautiful and touching memory, thank you for sharing.

I thought I was being smart by addressing a package for delivery via UPS to my house, instead of the PO, because of the Xmas jam there . . .

BUT it turns out that the UPS delivery was transferred to USPS for delivery to my house instead. WTF?

If I had known they were going to do that, I would have just addressed it to my PO where it would probably fit in my PO Box and where I have to go to pick up another pkg anyway.

I wonder why UPS is passing anything off to USPS. Seems very inefficient to do that but I guess that it somehow saves them time/trouble/$.

Funny thing is that I had a UPS delivery that was supposed to go to my PO (before the Xmas rush) but UPS (not USPS) delivered it to my house instead of to the PO even though I did not request it.

Everything is getting delivered but it seems to me that the pkg delivery system is really F*CKED UP! 🤷‍♂️

That storm saved me $2200.
I had 4 cheap nonrefundable flights booked and my daughter suddenly got sick with covid this morning, canceling our trip. Since the stopover was in CHI the airline let me cancel for full credit within a year. Some consolation for the ruined trip.

we got over 30 cm last night, which is unheard of around these parts. Between shovelling our driveway and the folks who live across the street from us this morning, I'm still in recovery! And it's snowing again...

definitely a little freakish for around here. I'm grateful we have a cozy home and a stocked pantry. There are a lot of people around who aren't so fortunate, unhoused you could say, and you go pile a bunch of snow up on em...well. Shit.
Unless the trashcan has an unusually shaped/deceptive lid, that looks like substantially more than 30cm/12".

What are the temperatures like? The arctic blast headed iur way looks like it's going to drop temperatures severely over just a 24 hour period.
