I have chickens. The past couple years there have been two pairs of rough legged hawks hanging out around my yard. And I know they are one of the breeds commonly referred to as “chicken hawks” around here.

But do they really pose a threat?

Hi. I’m a little late, but I do think they pose a threat. I’ve had ravens come and take baby chicks that were hanging with their mom. The ravens came down and grabbed one chick in one hand and all the other chicks would hide under the mom’s wings. Then the ravens would taunt the mom until she came at it exposing her babies and then the raven would grab a second one in its other hand and take off. Pretty ruthless. And I’ve even seen little pigmy owls take chickens larger than themselves. It seems like everything knows that chickens are pretty low on the food chain except chickens. The way the wonder around staring at the ground making prey noises to alert everything to their location. I really liked having chickens but we gave up after too many predator incidents. I live in the woods in the middle of nowhere so I’m sure it’s a more extreme scenario. I’m not trying to fear monger you. But I’m just saying to take the risk seriously because once something finds an easy food source it is hard to get them to stop. Good luck. I definitely hope it works out for you.

yoko yoko , your talent far exceeds my vision of you accomplishing this all while probably wearing roller blades and rocking to Gangnam Style in moves that would put a contortionist to shame, while grinning ear to ear at the job you love to do.

It’s clear that everybody thinks the holding call was a bad call but when you grab hold of a receivers jersey and stretch it a foot you should be expecting a flag. I don’t think they made the holding call because of the minimal grab/contact as the receiver went up for the ball. Or as he turned up field. The offending holding occurred before that and it was pretty blatant. All the video I’m seeing now focuses after the hold occurred and/or from the wrong angle. The focus being on a little grab of the jersey with the left hand. That was not what the call came from.

Greg Olsen stated that in his play by play last night as the reviews were playing but it got passed over a little, the flag is gonna get thrown if the hold is enough to turn the hips. I thought it was a great game and a real good matchup.

Yeah, I didn’t care who won either way. I was just happy it was a competitive game. I hate when championship games in any sport are a blowout.
Well, except for the old Tyson fights. It was pretty amusing watching him drop other contenders as quickly as he did (as long as I wasn’t paying the pay-per-view bill).

Thanks I didn’t see that. That guy must feel like shit. Just like the guy who blew the game for Cincinnati with the roughing the QB call at the end of game. Now that was blatant!
