Random Thought Thread

Maybe it's a vast conspiracy. To make the most poisonous substance in the universe and spread it across our bread belt rendering United States completely infertile and driving up cancer for the pharmaceutical companies

Or, maybe people who know more about dealing with the situation than you or me came to the conclusion that was the best way to deal with the problem. Perhaps *gasp* it was actually the best choice given the circumstances.

Perhaps it won't even be the end of the world and 5 years from now I'm going to remind you about this hysteria and point out that it was a big nothing burger

Small nuclear weapons can weigh as little as 50 lb

The old, original, single stage nuclear weapons are actually the most effective at generating an EMP

They generate the most effective EMP at altitude, not near the ground. And the most effective place to detonate one would be over the northern part of them United States because the electromagnetic pulse would follow the Earth's magnetic field down toward the equator

A few EMP at the beginning of a conflict would have the effect of taking our country offline. It would blow the wires off the grid and destroy the transformers. These transformers are not held in reserve with replacements ready to go they have to be made. Building the grid the way it is took a long time and rebuilding it from scratch would take years

I think that an EMP would be the only way to use a nuclear weapon that did not guarantee annihilation. And in EMP device could float over from China, Russia, North Korea etc.

It makes sense to me that balloons are a bigger problem than a train wreck in Ohio and it makes sense to me that they would be the source of news

I think regret everyday how I didn’t order the satin double edge Shiv in the pre order. 🥲🥲🥲
"… Regrets, I've had a few
But then again, too few to mention
I did what I had to do
And saw it through without exemption
… I planned each charted course
Each careful step along the byway
And more, much, much more
I did it, I did it my way"

This is generally the plot of “One Second After” by William Forstchen. It’s fiction but I think he’s pretty spot on about how quickly we’d dissemble into anarchy.

So, if the end of the world is coming, maybe I should have my wife file for her Social Security benefits now rather than waiting for the max payout a few years down the road at age 70.

FOMO

(I think we'll wait.)

Lamentably, I have to point out that there's lots of unsupported claims going on here.

Some suggest there may have been a conspiracy at play, others say that's nonsense. Both get us no closer to the truth as both are unsupported claims.

I provided some evidence that there's something awfully fishy going on with attacks on the food supply chain in recent years, no one has yet provided any evidence to say its all normal and "nothing to see here", just some head shaking as if it's nothing.

I'm not saying anything about the train crash in particular, just that I don't think it's entirely justified to completely brush off those who look at it with some suspicion.

T The Knife Life

I've already received one complaint this morning through a report by another member about your taking this thread further down the rabbit hole of politics than acceptable. We have a sub-forum for political diatribes, discussion and conspiracy theories and this is not it.

That said, out of consideration for Nathan and Jo, I await their determination if they wish to allow this discussion to continue.

Blues Blues

I definitely am not aiming to ruffle any feathers or upset anyone, I was merely engaging in the existing conversation of "random thoughts".

That said, I shall refrain from further comments on the matter to avoid running afoul of the rules.

Thank you for the fair and gentle warning.

Thanks, T The Knife Life , I appreciate it. It's a delicate line since I prefer to spend my time in this sub-forum as a participant and not one of Spark's goons. ☺️

Now on to a more serious subject...

Why do all the machines come from Ohio? What's going on up there?

And how does yoko yoko post with one hand and paint vehicles with the other?

There's something we need to get to the bottom of.

ETA: And drink beer with the third? (Maybe there is something in the water.)
