This is generally the plot of “One Second After” by William Forstchen. It’s fiction but I think he’s pretty spot on about how quickly we’d dissemble into anarchy.Random thought:
Small nuclear weapons can weigh as little as 50 lb
The old, original, single stage nuclear weapons are actually the most effective at generating an EMP
They generate the most effective EMP at altitude, not near the ground. And the most effective place to detonate one would be over the northern part of them United States because the electromagnetic pulse would follow the Earth's magnetic field down toward the equator
A few EMP at the beginning of a conflict would have the effect of taking our country offline. It would blow the wires off the grid and destroy the transformers. These transformers are not held in reserve with replacements ready to go they have to be made. Building the grid the way it is took a long time and rebuilding it from scratch would take years
I think that an EMP would be the only way to use a nuclear weapon that did not guarantee annihilation. And in EMP device could float over from China, Russia, North Korea etc.
It makes sense to me that balloons are a bigger problem than a train wreck in Ohio and it makes sense to me that they would be the source of news
... Just thinking out loud. What do I know, I'm just a dumb machinist...
I read that. The action takes place about 40 minutes from here. Yay.This is generally the plot of “One Second After” by William Forstchen. It’s fiction but I think he’s pretty spot on about how quickly we’d dissemble into anarchy.
It's actually highly disputable, and not a fact, but an opinion....All I know for sure is that the world is going to hell in a handbasket and that's pretty much an indisputable fact at this point.
