Random Thought Thread

Why would permission be needed to include webpages/content in Chat GPT's answers, if permission isn't currently required in order for that content to appear in standard search engine results? Even if this provision has been put in place, I'd guess that it will erode pretty quickly, with lots of precedent already established for being able to include & incorporate content that is "in the commons."
Well lets say you take this forum, if chat gpt makes it so you don't need to ever go here to get your answer, the forum makes less money from ad views. Google is fine because it just directs you here in the search results, so you come here, you see the ads, or buy a membership.

The bladeforum is not going to take any legal action, but when you get to bigger companies like Quora, or Getty images, they will quickly take legal action against AI's that are using their content without permission.

In theory, I totally understand what you are saying. But in reality, I'll be surprised if it plays out that way.

Late, but don't worry. 43k on mine in the last two years and the only issues I've had are ones I made myself(note to self, stop modifying vehicles so much). Every vehicle has a few weak points. I've been very happy with mine since new.

It has 43,000 miles on it. I have a skateboard with more miles than that.

Holler when it has 243,000 miles on it. I'll be curious to see.

No shame if this is somebody's thing. Just for edification.

Jeez...generally speaking, anything that upset those two would normally be something I would support.

(I still don't want to know. I'm thinking something along the lines of bestiality...and even someone of my low character has to draw the line somewhere.)

This is scary enough...
